Just looking over it, there weren't any deal-breakers at the time, so I imagine there are none now. I'm happy to have another look before you nominate, although it may be a couple of days. If there are any prose issues, I'll probably take a stab at them myself if you've no objections. If you can't wait, go ahead and nominate and I'll make any comments there. My main concern at the time was that the man did not "come alive". That may still be the case, but is not really anything I would (or should - it isn't actionable if the sources aren't there) oppose over. Sarastro1 (talk) 21:50, 12 January 2014 (UTC)

I am in no hurry. Thanks! Go Phightins! 22:38, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
I'll read through the article when I get a chance and post anything iffy that I find on the article's talk page. It might be a few days before I get around to it, since I'm busy elsewhere at the moment, but I promise that I will not forget your request. Giants2008 (Talk) 22:42, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
Same comment to you as I made to Sarastro. Thanks! Go Phightins! 23:14, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
I've added some comments to the talk page, and will finish the rest of the article in the next day or so. Feel free to argue! Sarastro1 (talk) 21:56, 15 January 2014 (UTC)

Hey, I saw that you're a contributor to college football articles, so could you leave your opinion here: talk:WikiProject College football#NFL_Draft_section. I'm trying to get responses. Kobra98 (talk) 01:30, 16 January 2014 (UTC)

Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article 2013 Penn State Nittany Lions football team you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Hey, Go P. Can you do me a favor and second Editor Mhockeys nom @ Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Editor Retention/Editor of the Week/Nominations. That way the Nomination page is a nice clean sheet waiting for all the NEW Nominations of 2014. I hope some of your friendly stalkers consider nominating a fellow editor for the award. As you and I both know it is extremely rewarding. ```Buster Seven Talk 21:15, 17 January 2014 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. The article 2013 Penn State Nittany Lions football team you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold . The article is close to meeting the good article criteria, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needing to be addressed. If these are fixed within 7 days, the article will pass; otherwise it may fail. See Talk:2013 Penn State Nittany Lions football team for things which need to be addressed. Can you please let me know if noone has reviewed this in a couple weeks? It's one of the articles I'd find difficult to GA review - I don't know the subject - but probably could if noone else can. Adam Cuerden (talk) 16:34, 22 January 2014 (UTC)

Hello GoP! I logged into my account after a really long time today as I received a message from Hbot. Also wanted to say hello to you guys (Jhubal27, jackson Peebles and you) who helped me climb the basic steps of Wikipedia. I am really sad and shocked at the same time after coming across the news of Jackson Peebles passed away. Do not know really how to react. His humor, character and the friendliness has been remarkable. Wikipedia has lost a great volunteer and contributor. May his soul rest in peace!  :( Ghorpaapi (talk) 13:02, 20 January 2014 (UTC)

You are absolutely right about Jackson. Glad to see you back. Go Phightins! 18:39, 20 January 2014 (UTC)

Hi there GP- I'm not quite clear on what's going on with Talk:Football in the Philippines/GA1. The review doesn't seem to have been properly closed as per the instructions here. Good article reviews aren't eligible for points until they are closed- could you either ensure that the review's been properly closed or remove the review from your submission page? Thanks! J Milburn (talk) 16:33, 26 January 2014 (UTC)

Hi J Milburn. My mistake. There was a problem with the article regarding copyediting, and I told the writer of the article that, once I had a few minutes, I would close the review and once it was copyedited, I would review it again. He subsequently told me he went ahead and closed the review, so I erred by not following up. I will double check. Thanks. Go Phightins! 18:07, 26 January 2014 (UTC)
OK, so the first review was closed, however apparently, he already found someone to copyedit the article, which was my main concern, and he re-nominated it ... so now there will be Talk:Football in the Philippines/GA2, rather than one review. He just re-nominated it in a faster timeframe than I would have expected. Go Phightins! 18:09, 26 January 2014 (UTC)

GA review

Hey Pightins! I noticed that you are in need of a reviewer for 2013 Penn State Nittany Lions football team, I am willing to help but in one condition. Can I request for a GA review in Football in the Philippines article? Thanks! FairyTailRocks (talk) 14:03, 17 January 2014 (UTC)

Sure, why don't you review 2013 Penn State ... first, and then when we're finished, I will give your article a review – tomorrow, Sunday, and Monday, my activity will be sporadic, so rather than have you wait around, that's why I figured you might as well review my article first. Thanks, FairyTailRocks! Go Phightins! 21:32, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
Deal! I've created a subpage dedicated for your nomination. Maybe after a few days I will bring you some reviews about it. Thanks again! FairyTailRocks (talk) 02:55, 18 January 2014 (UTC)
I'm impressed about the effort you put into the article. But there's one problem that needs to be fixed, can you solve the dead links about it? And one more thing, I have copyedited some sentences of Football in the Philippines also added more refs. Keep up the good work! FairyTailRocks (talk) 13:07, 20 January 2014 (UTC)

I just finished some tweaks in the article. Can you take a look about it? FairyTailRocks 12:28, 23 January 2014 (UTC)

Hi FairyTailRocks. I wanted to apologize that I did not get to this yesterday – I got sidetracked working on another article and completely forgot about it, and unfortunately today, right now is about the only time I will be online, as from now until about 10:00 PM ET, I have various real life commitments. I will do the best I can to get to this tomorrow. Sorry for the delay. Go Phightins! 13:28, 23 January 2014 (UTC)
I understand, you need to do your real life duties first before Wikipedia and also the article you have been working on. It's okay, as long as you have your free time, you can review my article. Cheers! FairyTailRocks (talk) 11:15, 24 January 2014 (UTC)

Hey! I requested a copyeditor, to fix some grammars in the article. It finished a while ago and I already closed the first nomination. You may now review the article's second nomination for GA. Thanks! FairyTailRocks 08:18, 26 January 2014 (UTC)

What happen? It is almost three days since you made a promise about reviewing it. I am really looking forward for your comments. FairyTailRocks (talk) 06:58, 30 January 2014 (UTC)
Sorry for the delay. That darn real life again. Now reviewed at GA2. Go Phightins! 18:53, 30 January 2014 (UTC)
Hey! Thank you very much for the review, I appreciate all the errors you noticed. Can you please hold it for a while so that I can fix the article? And again, thank you! FairyTailRocks (talk) 00:12, 1 February 2014 (UTC)
I don't really find need to put it on hold; I just won't fail it ... I'll give you a week or two. Let me know when you finish. Thanks. Go Phightins! 00:57, 1 February 2014 (UTC)

2013 Chicago Bears season

Hey Phightins, congrats on getting 2013 Penn State Nittany Lions football team promoted to GA status. Anyway, I've been working on 2013 Chicago Bears season, which has some traits "borrowed" from the Penn State article, and though it's not finished yet (especially regarding the recaps), I'd like to know if you think everything else besides the unfinished recaps seem fine for later review. Thanks. NFLisAwesome (ZappaOMati's alternate account) 21:48, 30 January 2014 (UTC)

I'll take a look, ZappaOMati. Go Phightins! 23:31, 31 January 2014 (UTC)
Thanks again. Once you do manage to get to it, could you list the sections you reviewed already so in the event I do get off my lazy ass and work on the recaps and ask you again for another review, you won't have to re-review the sections you already dealt with? ZappaOMati 03:09, 1 February 2014 (UTC)

WikiCup 2014 January newsletter

The 2014 WikiCup is off to a flying start, with, at time of writing, 138 participants. The is the largest number of participants we have seen since 2010. If you are yet to join the competition, don't worry- the judges have agreed to keep the signups open for a few more days. By a wide margin, our current leader is newcomer Smithsonian Institution Godot13 (submissions), whose set of 14 featured pictures, the first FPs of the competition, was worth 490 points. Here are some more noteworthy scorers:

Featured articles, featured lists, featured topics and featured portals are yet to play a part in the competition. The judges have removed a number of submissions which were deemed ineligible. Typically, we aim to see work on a project, followed by a nomination, followed by promotion, this year. We apologise for any disappointment caused by our strict enforcement this year; we're aiming to keep the competition as fair as possible.

Wikipedians interested in friendly competition may be interested to take part in The Core Contest; unlike the WikiCup, The Core Contest is not about audited content, but, like the WikiCup, it is about article improvement; specifically, The Core Contest is about contribution to some of Wikipedia's most important article. Of course, any work done for The Core Contest, if it leads to a DYK, GA or FA, can earn WikiCup points.

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to help keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Idea

Create a Category. Editors that have received the Editor of the Week Award. I'll do the work (not sure what to do but I'll investigate) if you think it has wings. ```Buster Seven Talk 16:51, 31 January 2014 (UTC)

Sounds like a great idea. Perhaps the category could automatically be applied to any pages to which the barnstar is transcluded. Let's ping Isaacl. Go Phightins! 23:31, 31 January 2014 (UTC)
I believe Wikipedia:WikiProject Editor Retention/Editor of the Week/Recipient user box could be modified to include a category. For what it's worth, I think the list of recipients at Wikipedia:WikiProject Editor Retention/Editor of the Week and the Hall of Fame do a much better job than a category would, and so I don't see the need for one. isaacl (talk) 02:23, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
