Another sock puppet?

[edit]

Hi again. Can you tell me who or where you went to to request an IP check? A new user, User: Prfo, was just created, and made the same unsourced edit to The Real World: Hollywood that BicMac and others have been making to that article and other RW articles. Thanks. Assistance

[edit]

I'd like to help settle the conflict between yourself, Nightscream and BigMacDad18. If you're willing to take my assistance, please let me know. Cheers! Vassyana (talk) 00:45, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

footy show

[edit]

Hi - you edited my contribution to the footy show calling it vandalism! I am confused you say wikepedia presents a balanced view but the current afl footy page info is not only biased but factually incorrect. The show is sexist and i think everyone including the panallists have conceeded as much so i am unsure a to why my contribution was removed - should it have gone under sam newman antics?? can you explain to me -

Fishnet comments deleted

[edit]

I was unaware of the link issue. I reposted the information without the link, which is not important. Since the article already had a reference to the Rocky Horror Picture Show I thought the addition made sense. At the time I provided the link as proof of the information but now I understand that it was a redirect link and not acceptable.

Guidelines

[edit]

Hi,

My first attempt at adding information to the database was a good learning experience. Now I actually have something important to contribute. I would appreciate a little guidance if only in pointing me to the best guidelines.

I am intensely studying and researching parrots and cockatoos. In the last few years my studies have encompassed the science behind their behavior and physiology. I have a reason for this since I am in the process of establishing a sanctuary for needy birds in my home town.

I believe that education is the key to helping these creatures. The wikipedia is an excellent place to provide such relatively unbiased and scientific information.

Having amassed a library of clinical manuals and authoritative texts and much personal experience I would like to contribute to the wikipedia. One concern that I have is citing texts without violation of copyright. Could you point me to guidelines for this? I would like to list references although I realize I cannot copy their content.

One earlier edit of this page listed the vocalizations of an Umbrella Cockatoo as a threat to human hearing. This is true. Frankly, either my cockatoo is getting quieter or my hearing loss is advancing quickly. Aside from this, many texts relate this information. I wonder why that reference was removed. The history listed does not go back that far but the information was valid.

I see the difficulty in maintaining the information in this encyclopedia. References are important but copyright makes those hard to cite. On what basis, then, do we choose which information is suitable and which is not?

Any assistance in this matter will be much appreciated.

Thanks for giving me a wake up call on my earlier (not so important) edit. I have much to learn but with some guidance I believe that I can be of assistance to the community.

The Big Wave

[edit]

Just a friendly note on The Big Wave. I removed your speedy deletion tag because novels are not included in A7. Feel free to prod or AfD if you think this needs to go (but this is a classic novel taught in a number of schools, so it's more than likely notable.)--Fabrictramp (talk) 00:29, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reverting the Edinburgh Alumni

[edit]

My deletion of David Miscampbell from the Edinburgh University Alumni was, despite appearances, an improvement. I can confirm this as I know David Miscampbell (he is a good friend) and he is decisively still at Edinburgh university and definitely is not an interprative dancer. I understand why you reverted the text however I hope you will agree that a removal of his name from the list would remove this (I presume) jocular entry on wikipedia.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
