Non-free files in your user space

[edit]

Hey there Henk.Wiersema, thank you for your contributions. I am a bot, alerting you that non-free files are not allowed in user or talk space. I removed some files I found on User:Henk.Wiersema/Skybot Scheduler. In the future, please refrain from adding fair-use files to your user-space drafts or your talk page.

  • See a log of files removed today here.
  • Shut off the bot here.
  • Report errors here.
  • If you have any questions, place a {{helpme}} template, along with your question, beneath this message.

Thank you, -- DASHBot (talk) 05:03, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • I created this draft page from Start a new article so I addd the logo too, and now it is not allowed to place the logo here.
  • At uploading the logo, I chose "logo", for when selecting "I dont know ..." the logo was due to be removed within a few weeks.
  • Will the logo being restored when I move this draft to the final namespace? ("Finished? Move the page.")

--Henk.Wiersema (talk) 07:17, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The logo will be deleted until you fill out this template on your talk page. After, you may request that it is undeleted when you move the page. ~~EBE123~~ talkContribs 14:17, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure if I have to add the rationale to my ow talk page or to te talk page of the draft article, so I did both.

Does the addition of this rationale prevent any future removal from a draft page? I want to make a few more articles i the near future. --Henk.Wiersema (talk) 06:52, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think Sphilbrick (talk · contribs) has answered this further down the page, but just in case: according to bullet point 9 at Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria, non-free files must not be added to draft articles that are still in "User:" space. The addition of a rationale makes no difference to this. I suggest that for future articles that are going to have a non-free image, you draft the article in user space without the image, get the article reviewed and moved into the main encyclopedia, and only then upload the image and add it to the article. -- John of Reading (talk) 20:26, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:Skybot SW logo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Skybot SW logo.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ~~EBE123~~ talkContribs 14:14, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I got a warning "... has no explanation as to why it is permitted under the policy". I really dont get the clue where in the rationale table I should add what text to fulfill this need. Can you give me some examples?

The link provided above: here it is again includes the template needed to fill out the rationale.
Further down the page, it includes an example.
If you'd like to see a real life example, go to File:NBALogo.svg and you can see one all filled out.
Does this answer your question, or do you need more help?--SPhilbrickT 13:35, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I looked up above and see that you have filled out a rationale. However, as you said, "I'm not sure if I have to add the rationale to my ow talk page or to te talk page of the draft article, so I did both." The rationale has to be added to the image itself, not to the talk page.
Click on this File:Skybot SW logo.jpg, then click edit, and add the template, then edit again to add the details. I'll make it easier. I'll add the template, then you just have to fill it out.--SPhilbrickT 13:42, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
A couple minor points:
  • Review the words to make sure they are still applicable
  • Fix the spelling errors
  • You answered "no" to the low resolution question. The desired answer is "yes" This image looks to me like it is low resolution, although this isn't my area of expertise. If it is low resolution answer yes. If not, you need to create and upload a low resolution version.
  • I don't believe you are allowed to have non-free content in user space. I realize this is a draft, so you intend it in article space, but you will need to change the article parameter to point to article space. The normal sequence is to move to article space, then add the non-free content --SPhilbrickT 13:58, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Updated the talk of the image page ... lets see if it's okay now. --Henk.Wiersema (talk) 21:13, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:OpConX5BlackThumb.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 10:49, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of OpCon

[edit]

The article OpCon has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Product does not appear notable. No secondary sources.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
