Help has arrived

[edit]

You wanted some help, here I am! How can I help you? You can ask your questions right here, and I will respond.--Commander Keane 10:38, 13 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Commander Keane, I have problems viewing image galleries. I only can see panaroma and potrait images, but not landscape ones. I know this got to do with my screen resolution, but I would like to know what screen resolution size would I be able to look at my photos, or could you give me any other advice? --Terence Ong 10:41, 13 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia image galleries should display fine no matter what the image is. Can you give me an example of where it's not working? I use a 800x600 screen resolution and Wikipedia works fine.--Commander Keane 10:46, 13 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
While I'm looking at photos, when I see landscape ones, its just a grey blank rectangle. That's all I see, no image. --Terence Ong 10:49, 13 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The only thing I can think of is the comment "will not display images with certain aspect-ratios" found in the description in Wikipedia:Image_gallery. If that's not the problem, then this question is too tough for me - try the Help desk.--Commander Keane 15:40, 13 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Another Esperanzial note...

[edit]

Hi again Esperanzians! Well, since our last frolic in the realms of news, the Advisory Council has met twice more (see WP:ESP/ACM2 and WP:ESP/ACM3). As a result, the charter has been ammended twice (see here for details) and all of the shortcuts have been standardised (see the summary for more details). Also of note is the Valentines ball that will take place in the Esperanza IRC channel on the 14th of February (tomorrow). It will start at 6pm UTC and go on until everyone's had enough! I hope to see you all there! Also, the spamlist has been dissolved - all Esperanzians will now recieve this update "newsletter".

The other major notice I need to tell you about is the upcoming Esperanza Advisory Council Elections. These will take place from 12:00 UTC on February 20th to 11:59 UTC on February 27th. The official handing-over will take place the following day. Candidates are able to volunteer any time before the 20th, so long as they are already listed on the members list. Anyone currently listed on the memberlist can vote. In a change since last time, if you have already been a member of the leadership, you may run again. Due to the neutrality precident, I will not vote for anyone.

Yours, as ever, Esperanzially,

Thanks for taking the time to vote in my RfA, which passed with a final vote of 54/2/1 despite my obvious inadequacy for the job. I'll do my level best to use the mop and bucket — or, as I said in my RfA, plunger — responsibly. Of course, in the best tradition of politicans everywhere, I've already broken a campaign promise (I blocked a vandal last night despite having said "I don't anticipate using the blocking tool very often"). Nevertheless, I'll try not to let the unbridled power corrupt me. —Josiah Rowe (talkcontribs) 19:38, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re : RfC Monicasdude

[edit]

Hi Terence,

I'll review the whole thing shortly one more time before I sign. Just a pointer to note when filing an RfAr : Be sure to gather, compile and organise new evidence carefully for the activities of the past month too. There are probably new edits, incidents and diffs that you'll need to cover, in addition to the current ones in the RfC. A professional, well written statement would also better convince the arbitrators to accept the case.

If you need any assistance on RfAr, do contact me on my talkpage. :) - Cheers, Mailer Diablo 17:07, 17 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re : Problems seeing some images

[edit]

I presume you mean the panorama images? It's working fine for me. Try Ctrl-F5 and refresh, and see if it works again? It could be possibly some technical problem on your computer's side.

BTW, my apologies for the later-than-supposed cleanup of Sengkang's photos, partly because the Wiki appears to be rather slow these days. Hope you don't mind. :) - Cheers, Mailer Diablo 17:17, 17 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RE:RE:HRT

[edit]

How can't? When I click on the other broadcasters, link follows directly to the wiki article about that television. How it is done?

It seems that people associated with the site came back and recreated the article that had already been deleted by AFD (Spinnwebe Afd). The webmaster of the site seems to have recruited tons of people associated with that website to go to the Speedy deletions page to contest the deletion. It really is ridiculous, one person seems to have registered just to vote [1] and there are a few blank red links voting. I know that you are very familar with the deletion process and think maybe you can help out with this problem.--Jersey Devil 20:54, 22 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for commenting on both of these. I wondered if you'd realised that you'd voted to keep {{Olympic Summer Games Host Cities}} but delete {{Olympic Winter Games Host Cities}}, even though the arguments are pretty much the same for both? Hi, thanks for your voting on my RFA. It has finished with the result 88/14/9, and I am promoted. I am really overwhelmed with the amount of support I have got. With some of you we have edited many articles as a team, with some I had bitter arguments in the past, some of you I consider to be living legends of Wikipedia and some nicks I in my ignorance never heard before. I love you all and I am really grateful to you.

If you feel I can help you or Wikipedia as a human, as an editor or with my newly acquired cleaning tools, then just ask and I will be happy to assist. If you will feel that I do not live up to your expectation and renegade on my promises, please contact me. Maybe it was not a malice but just ignorance or a short temper. I'm pretty new to this so please excuse my ignorance. I am the creator of the ViagraRing. I am somewhat hurt by the fact that an idea I've spent the last year working on is being slammed so harshly by the community here. It has in fact done very well in the marketplace. I am of course trying to make a buck (Buddha forbid that an individual try to do this in America) & at the same time carve my own little niche in 21st century pop culture. Granted this was a spam (I now know what this is) but give a guy a break. I'm not a mega-million dollar corporation; just a small jeweler trying to make something from nothing.

AFD Discussion

[edit]

Regarding the article on CybOrgasMatrix, your vote was for deletion based on non-notability. I don't know if you are watching the article or the AFD discussion at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/CybOrgasMatrix, but the article was re-written, due in part to your input. Thank you. Since the review will be closing soon, your opinion with regard to the new version would be helpfull.

With regard to notability, the discussion page links to a 15-second video clip that speaks to that issue (you have to scroll down the Keep entry to find the link). If you are moved to watch it, the 2 things that make the invention notable should be apparent.

Alternatively, it has been suggested that the artcle be merged with Sex doll. After due consideration of the above, your views on this would be appreciated. If you ARE watching the discussion, I apologize. Please feel free to blank this. --Esoterik1 07:26, 5 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

After all 5 judges have chosen a finalist it's time to award them 1-10 points in the four categories:

  • Attractiveness: general layout, considering colour scheme and/or use of tables if applicable
  • Usefulness: links to subpages or editing aids, helpful information
  • Interesting-ness: quirky, unique, captivating, or funny content
  • General niceness: at the judges' discretion

Please remember to include Subpages in your judging criteria. See the Scores section on this page for additional information on your job as a judge.

my RfA

[edit]
Hi Terence, You've taken some fantastic photos! I love all of the reflections in Image:Centrepoint inside.JPG. Anyway, I wanted to thank you for taking the time to consider my RfA, which passed this morning. If there's ever anything I can help you with, just ask; you know where to find me. ×Meegs 06:06, 11 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My RfA

This hippo looks contented.

Thanks for your support in my RfA. It passed, with a final tally of 62/0/1. I'm touched by all the kind comments it attracted, and hope I'll be of some use with my new tools. You know where I am if you need to shout at me. Flowerparty 15:46, 11 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A question

[edit]

You said that the Sentosa Express is not part of the LRT system. However, I bought the Street Directory of Singapore and it is mentioned under the List of LRT stations.

Terence, I am a little unclear as to why you voted for deletion of the Heidi Choat article when you are an Inclusionist? Surely you would be advocating keeping an article unless it was of the most outrageous nature, if you were consistent with your inclusionist position. I would request you to please reconsider and if possible amend your vote on that page. --SilverWings 13:36, 12 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for participating in my RfA. It passed with a final tally of 98/13/10, just two short of making WP:100. If you need my help with anything, don't hesitate to ask.

My RFA

[edit]

Thank you for your recent vote on my RFA. While the nomination failed, I was rather expecting it due to the big lapse between registration and recent edits. Anywho, if you have any suggestions as to how I could improve so as to hopefully succeed next time, please let me know! Thanks! —akghetto talk 07:47, 13 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
