Userbox

[edit]

I'm gonna try making the userbox you requested. Can i make it "..loves candy", as there is no free picture of candycane on Wikipedia but there's plenty of candy in general, such as the one on your right. Also, any preferred colour schemes? → jacĸrм ( talk | sign ) 11:48, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

To upload a picture click here. Do you own the picture though? If you don't it will be deleted! And remember to sign your posts with ~~~~. → jacĸrм ( talk | sign ) 11:56, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You have to find the copyright information, some pictures are released to the internet so anyone can use them, but most aren't. Most you find on websites and just save aren't. To add an image you need to add . For example the image on the right is . Most articles have to make them an appropriate size for the article. It's easiest if you took the picture yourself, but if you look on many images on wikipedia, the creator has released them for GFDL, so you may use them. Ask if you need to know anything else. → jacĸrм ( talk | sign ) 20:01, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You know the place where you normally put the big font, as in the candycane one you made, where you put "cc", put the image tag there, so for example might be an appropriate size for a userbox, if not, just make it smaller and keep previewing! → jacĸrм ( talk | sign ) 20:20, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, put the link in [] and at the end of the link put a space, then what you want it to say. So for example, for my talk page, i'd put click here to leave me a message which would appear as click here to leave me a message. Hope this helped! → jacĸrм ( talk | sign ) 19:54, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nice hand image

That is a very nice hand picture you added to jelly bean. I'm thinking you might be able to replace the image on Ring finger with a better shot! Dreadstar 23:04, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image tagging for Image:Jackcool.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Jackcool.JPG. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 22:07, 2 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Zzzzzzzzzzzz.JPG)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Zzzzzzzzzzzz.JPG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 15:14, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your RfA

[edit]

Just to let you know, I have removed your request for adminship from WP:RFA because you have not answered the questions or wrote an introduction about why you arw requesting adminship (in the {description}) field. Please check out Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/nominate for help, or ask me on my talk page. Thanks, Qst 14:16, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Now you have answered the questions and wrote a brief description about why you think you are suited for the tools, you are free to transclude it on to WP:RFA, however I suggest you don't, at the minute. For adminship, users look for users who have mostly 4-6 months experience of solid editing on Wikipedia, and mostly around about at least 3k edits. Take a look at some successful RfA's for a guideline of what the community looks for. However, that being — I have no control over what you decide, the decision is completely yours. Qst 14:20, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent RfA

[edit]

I'm sorry, but I've closed your Request for adminship prematurely. Simply put, you've only got 106 edits on Wikipedia; while edit count isn't the only determining factor, and numerous people have their own personal standards that they judge RfA candidates by, there was no chance that the RfA was going to pass.

I'm sorry about this, and hope you don't take it personally. If you continue to contribute to the project in a positive fashion, I'm confident that you could possibly run a successful RfA in the future. You may want to consider submitting yourself to Wikipedia:Editor review for feedback on where to get some good experience, and when you're ready for RfA again, there's a great Wikipedia:Admin coaching program for you to use, as well as a guide to requests for adminship.

If you have any other questions about becoming an administrator, please don't hesitate to ask me. Good luck! EVula // talk // // 16:06, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Stubs

[edit]

Please do not nominate stubs for speedy deletion. Simply being short -- especially with articles that have the potential to be expanded -- is not a valid criterion for speedy deletion. You may want to review WP:CSD to get a better handle on when speedy deletion should be utilized.

Let me know if you have any questions. Cheers, Caknuck 20:20, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Rebeca Martinez

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Rebeca Martinez, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Rebeca Martinez seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Rebeca Martinez, please affix the template hangon to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Image:Name.ext listed for deletion

[edit]

An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, Image:Name.ext, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Images for deletion

[edit]

I have listed all the uploaded media from your former account, User:Coolgirly88, for deletion because I don't feel that it meets the criteria for being retained on this encyclopedia. I have listed my reasons for requesting the deletion on this page, which I gave under each image. So you know, "UE" is an abbrevation for UnEncylopedic, CV stands for Copyright Violation and LQ stands for Low Quality. If you disagree with my reasoning, please feel free to comment there. I do not wish for you to stop contributing images to this project, but I would encourage you to read the policy for uploading images at Wikipedia:Image use policy so you may familiarize yourself with the guidelines we have for images. If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them. Thank you. Cumulus Clouds (talk) 08:26, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Images

[edit]

The point is: several images uploaded by Coolgirly88 have been nominated for deletion; apparently, this is your former account that you have abandoned. And I was asking if you want them to be kept, or if you don't mind if they are deleted. - Mike Rosoft (talk) 11:44, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. When using certain templates on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use instead of uw-test1. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template. Thank you. Alexfusco5 15:39, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Girlycutie.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Girlycutie.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Fingerprints of God, and it appears to be a substantial copy of http://www.dslextreme.com/users/minara2/FingerprintsOfGod.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. User category creation

[edit]

Before creating user categories – such as Category:Wikipedians who get angry easily‎, Category:Wikipedians who hate peeps, Category:Wikipedians that like yellow labs‎, and Category:Wikipedians that are easily depressed‎ – please consider how useful the categories would be to other users (see WP:UBX#Category inclusion). User categories should not be created simply to serve as userpage notices ... a userbox or a typed text notice is more appropriate for this purpose. Please feel free to contact me should you have any comments or questions. Thank you, Black Falcon (Talk) 22:54, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy Deletion of Fingerprints of God

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Fingerprints of God, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

No assertion of notability

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add hangon on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Jeodesic (talk) 10:57, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Girlycutie.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Girlycutie.jpg.

Thank you. RFA

[edit]

As this is your 3rd RFA, I suggest you wait at least a year or so before you have another one. While ageism here on Wikipedia is sad, what's worse is that there are many users who automatically do not vote for someone simply because it is their 4th or 5th RFA. I suggest you wait a while before your next one. That being said, I am impressed by your enthusiasm for the Wikipedia. --Sharkface217 01:33, 16 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps you might wish to be adopted at WP:ADOPT. I am sure that will help a lot and give you a successful adminship in the future. Marlith T/C 05:34, 16 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Girlycutie.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Girlycutie.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. JodyB talk 02:27, 16 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. You can change the picture and the message, also you can edit the colours of the border where it says this {gray} just change what colour you want, and you can change the border, where it says this, {#fdffe7}, go to web colors look for the colour you want and add the code in. I will give you more pointers if you get it wrong.  Sunderland06  19:21, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Are you talking about the one that spins round.  Sunderland06  19:30, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I am not sure, i think it might possibly be a large amount of pictures of the star, but at different postitions, sort of like a flip book, or an animation. Sunderland06  19:48, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Have you had a go at making the barnstar then. Sunderland06  14:06, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your reprimand on User talk:Kavin5fan‎

[edit]

You told a user that he can not put a link to his own website on his own user page in This edit, however, WP:User page clearly states that "You are welcome to include a link to your personal home page". Please refrain from spanking the newcomers, particularly when you are in the wrong. WP:LINKS applies to main space only, not user pages. Pharmboy (talk) 15:33, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've closed the above AFD as a keep. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me. Thank you. Best regards, Rt. 16:24, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Help

[edit]

helpme|How does a non-admin close and AFD debate?

See this guideline which discusses non-admin closures. It has to be a clear, non-controversial AFD, you cannot have commented in the AFD, and it cannot be a delete because a non-admin cannot delete. Also, it has to last at least 5 days per AFD policies. Does this clear it up? Metros (talk) 16:54, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
