Alterantive names

[edit]

Before you add any more alternative names to the lede section of articles, you should learn what is the Wikipedia policy on the matter. Please read carefully the section 'Alternative names' of the guideline Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Lead section and the section 'Treatment of alternative names' in the policy article Wikipedia:Article titles. Notice especially this part: If there are three or more alternative names, they should not be included in the first sentence as this creates clutter. Instead, the names may be footnoted, or moved elsewhere in the article such as in a "Names" or "Etymology" section. If the alternative names already are presented in the article, they should not also be squeezes into the first sentence.

I also notice that you very seldom use edit summaries to explain your edits. Edit summaries are a very convenient way of explaining the 'what' and 'why' of your edits, see WP:EDITSUMMARY. It is also useful to read the edit summaries of other people's edits, especially if they are reverting your own edits.

If you make an edit that is reverted by another editor, you should take a step back and try to understand the reason. The conflict should then be solved through discussion in the article talk page. A good way to handle this is through the BRD-cycle, see WP:BRD. If your Bold edit is Reverted, start a Discussion. Just redoing the same edit will then be considered to be edit war, see WP:EDITWAR, which could lead to you being blocked from editing. T*U (talk) 07:30, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Διαγραφές λημμάτων σου

[edit]

D.S. Lioness (talk) 17:57, 24 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Əliağalı, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Armenian. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, --DPL bot (talk) 09:07, 13 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, I didn't know. I'm mostly active on the Greek wikipedia J0RJ12 (talk) 18:53, 13 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Zoravan (Khojavend) moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Zoravan (Khojavend), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Removing Armenian names on Karabakh geographic articles and moving articles to Azerbaijani names

[edit]

Hey, I see that you have removed Armenian names on Karabakh geographic articles and moved articles to Azerbaijani names - I have reverted these changes. Please open move discussions on the article talk pages if you think a move is appropriate, these articles have individual historical and overall contexts - see Wikipedia:Article titles for more info on policy and guidelines regarding Wikipedia article titles. AntonSamuel (talk) 14:33, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,
There is no point on keeping the Armenian names since the villages are de jure and de facto part of Azerbaijan since Artsakh was dissolved, so I think the Azeri names were used.
Sincerely yours J0RJ12 (talk) 17:08, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia article guidelines largely look at what the common names are as well as take the historical and cultural context into consideration as well if you read the info on the page I linked - the majority of the villages in the Nagorno-Karabakh region were historically ethnic Armenian - because of the recent ethnic cleansing of Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh after the 2023 Azerbaijani attack on the region and the previous siege and policy of starvation, and since most of these localities are now unpopulated, it's prudent for Wikipedia editors to be careful and sensitive to these issues and seek input from other editors before moving the articles or removing Armenian names.
