I'm happy to agree that the article might be woefully inadequate and need a complete re-write, but this edit makes it slightly more informative. If nothing else, it captures the new reference details, until such time as a complete re-write can be done. Mitch Ames (talk) 02:12, 2 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Ok. the bupati means regent (only in indonesia). the village in the US and philippines is never helded by regent then by mayor (already). Akuindo (talk) 09:09, 8 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Re: weird

[edit]

«== weird ==Not sure why you wanted to paint the talk page tags blue in your edit at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:List_of_Mexican_saints - it would be much more helpful to do the full assess - as it is you have left ?? in the importance.... Also I rarely ever see any of my talk page editing added or amended. (most eds are not the slightest interested in maintaining project tags) . The 'List' project tag in effect becomes redundant if you have put 'list' as the class in the other projects. I could go on at length, but... If indeed you are interested in project tagging, or in assessing - good luck to you - there is no support for the activity (not that I have ever seen). satusuro 13:08, 8 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Even weirder - saints - is a stand alone project - and by extension should have only the tag for that project at project pages - so a bit mystified as to why biography creeps in there... ? satusuro 13:13, 8 November 2014 (UTC)»[reply]

Hello, I do not think it is possible to guess what effects any assessment will have in the future and that it is better to leave importance blank for subjects I know relatively little about. (Making this a requirement would mean fewer articles assessed since each one would take longer.) Wikipedia:WikiProject Lists#Assessment has a table of articles belonging to the project which presumably depends on the WP:Lists banner being present in those articles. I added WPBIO as saints are people and am not aware the scope of WP:Saints has any implications for any other projects which might be added. Adding relevant projects has the effect of increasing the number of editors who might become aware of an article and then perhaps decide to edit it.--Johnsoniensis (talk) 16:04, 8 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Mining

[edit]

I haven't edited much in mining articles in the last few years due to time constraints. I'm just waiting for my flight back to Perth from Sydney now. Could you be a bit more specific as to what you would like me to look at and I will check it out when I get back to the Pilbara tomorrow? See you, Calistemon (talk) 04:37, 1 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I had a look through the related templates and articles and all pretty much seems to be in order, except for State Batteries in Western Australia which is in Category:Gold mines in Western Australia but would rather belong in a as yet non-existing Category:Gold mining in Western Australia, with Gold mining in Western Australia as its parent article. Alternativly it could just go into Category:Gold mining in Australia. Is this what you have been taking about? Calistemon (talk) 03:03, 2 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Indonesian task force

[edit]

Hallo SatuSuro, I have made a nomination to make an Indonesian task force for football. The reason for it is to gather some active wikipedia users to improve the articles related to Indonesian football such as competitions, clubs, players and other related articles. The link for the nomination is here. As you have contributed before for Indonesian football articles, I hope you can contribute to the discussions. Thank you. Cheers!! MbahGondrong (talk) 02:26, 6 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

There are other discussions in here and here. Cheers!! MbahGondrong (talk) 02:46, 6 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, thanks for your reply. Sadly I agree with you with all the problems that you mentioned on my talk page regarding Indonesian football articles, well I just hope that maybe starting now the articles could be improved and maintained with Wikipedia standards by some active users, its gonna be though and tedious but it have to start somehow. Its a pity though that you dont have the time to be a part of the task force. Anyway looking forward for you future contributions if you have the time to do it and I really appreciate your reply to me. Cheers!! MbahGondrong (talk) 20:20, 6 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Mataram Sultanate

[edit]

You're right, Mataram Sultanate article although quite important for Javanese and Indonesian history has been neglected for too long. Let's see what we can do to improve, rewrite and adding desperately needed references and citations. Although my core interest on Indonesian history was mainly on Hindu-Buddhist period spanned from Tarumanagara to Majapahit (4th to 15th century), let's see what I can do. Selamat Tahun Baru 2015ǃ. Gunkarta  talk  04:58, 1 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, my silence sometimes means I'm agree with you (and I expecting you to fix it), or I'm busy doing something else. Go ahead, please do what you think is right, I don't mind, since you already gave the reasons. Gunkarta  talk  13:24, 2 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

About Encyclopaedia Britannica as a reference, I think since we do not have better net-base references (yet), we still can use it. Better having one than not having any reference at all. Maybe you could help me digging up the net in searching for Mataram Sultanate materials for citation and refs. I just dig my book collections and rediscovered R. Soekmono's Pengantar Sejarah Kebudayaan Indonesia 3 (Zaman Madya), a popular textbook that write about Indonesian history focused on Islamic kingdoms/sultanates period after Majapahit and prior to colonial Dutch East Indies. Gunkarta  talk  13:45, 2 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I dont quite agree the article in question have flagcruft, as there are no flags there, but maybe overlinking is violated (2014 season part of the table). I think is it right place

[edit]

There is also article about Sundanese people that stated etymology which also about the word Sunda, I think there is also right.. because it is about etymology "why those people to be called Javanese?" "why those peoples called Sundanese?" the word Javanese is of "Java - nese" which mean "people of Java" same case as the Sundanese from "Sunda - nese" which mean "people of Sunda"... so I think, why not?

Ah yes about O-Javanese, if you look at Indonesian and Javanese version, there is no citation there... but still acceptable, in English wikipedia, I found so many citation that written in Bahasa and Javanese, but still acceptable, if you're Bahasa speaker, maybe you can help by translate it because my English are not "perfect"...

WikiProject X Newsletter • Issue 1

[edit]

Hi! Thank you for subscribing to the WikiProject X Newsletter. For our first issue...

Has WikiProject X changed the world yet? No.

We opened up shop last month and announced our existence to the world. Our first phase is the "research" phase, consisting mostly of reading and listening. We set up our landing page and started collecting stories. So far, 28 stories have been shared about WikiProjects, describing a variety of experiences across numerous WikiProjects. A recurring story involves a WikiProject that starts off strong but has trouble continuing to stay active. Most people describe using WikiProjects as a way to get feedback from other editors. Some quotes:

  • "Working on requested articles, utilising the reliable sources section, and having an active WikiProject to ask questions in really helped me learn how to edit Wikipedia and looking back I don't know how long I would have stayed editing without that project." – Sam Walton on WikiProject Video Games
  • "I believe that the main problem of the Wikiprojects is that they are complicated to use. There should be a a much simpler way to check what do do, what needs to be improved etc." – Tetra quark
  • "In the late 2000s, WikiProject Film tried to emulate WP:MILHIST in having coordinators and elections. Unfortunately, this was not sustainable and ultimately fell apart." – Erik

Of course, these are just anecdotes. While they demonstrate what is possible, they do not necessarily explain what is typical. We will be using this information in conjunction with a quantitative analysis of WikiProjects, as documented on Meta. Particularly, we are interested in the measurement of WikiProject activity as it relates to overall editing in that WikiProject's subject area.

We also have 50 people and projects signed up for pilot testing, which is an excellent start! (An important caveat: one person volunteering a WikiProject does not mean the WikiProject as a whole is interested; just that there is at least one person, which is a start.)

While carrying out our research, we are documenting the problems with WikiProjects and our ideas for making WikiProjects better. Some ideas include better integration of existing tools into WikiProjects, recommendations of WikiProjects for people to join, and improved coordination with Articles for Creation. These are just ideas that may or may not make it to the design phase; we will see. We are also working with WikiProject Council to improve the directory of WikiProjects, with the goal of a reliable, self-updating WikiProject directory. Stay tuned! If you have any ideas, you are welcome to leave a note on our talk page.

That's all for now. Thank you for subscribing!
