Tool to add info into sources

[edit]

Is ther something like WP:twinkle to help me cite sources? KSAWikipedian (talk) 17:29, 10 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The editors (both visual and source) have some tools that will expand URLs into more complete citation templates. Is that what you're looking for? — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 17:49, 10 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
jmcgnh Yes. something like that. What tools and where can I find them? KSAWikipedian (talk) 17:51, 10 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Place the cursor at the point in the text where you want to insert a reference. In the source editor, look for a button named 'Cite' in the menu; after you click on it, choose the appropriate template for your reference. Once the panel opens up, there's a field labeled "URL". You paste your URL in there and click on the magnifying glass to have the algorithm fill in the rest of the fields as best it can. Then click on the 'Insert' button to complete the action. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 18:01, 10 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
KSAWikipedian, I suggest Wikipedia:ProveIt for source editor. For visual editor, the tools are built into it, and I prefer to use VE to make references myself. We usually have a tool that expands all refs automatically (WP:REFILL), but it is broken at the moment :/ CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 18:03, 10 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Articles behind paywalls.

[edit]

Is there a way to view that are behind pay walls? I want to add some new refs, I can finf the articles on Google Scholar, but I can not read them to add a citation on scientific articles. KSAWikipedian (talk) 09:44, 8 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I mean, I have some methods that are...potentially legal, like using outline or if they've been added to internet archive. However, for more reliably legal approaches, how about the Wikipedia Library where you get access to various resources you'd normally need to pay for. Or make a specific request at the resource exchange Nosebagbear (talk) 11:37, 8 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

An article you recently created, 2021 Pakistan Super League squads, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Hello, KSAWikipedian,

You should not have tagged this page for speedy deletion. It was not eligible for CSD G13 deletion. Please review Criteria for Speedy Deletion so you are familiar with what the different criteria, when they apply and to which namespaces they apply to. If you are unsure, please do not tag pages for deletion until you are a more experienced editor. Liz Read! Talk! 04:01, 25 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It is also presumptuous for you to post a "Welcome" message on the talk page of an editor who has been here much longer than you have and has thousands of edits while you have 415. I think you need to slow down and stop pretending that you are an experienced editor when you are still considered a new editor. Taking on too much responsibility too soon is an easy way to find yourself in trouble here on Wikipedia. Liz Read! Talk! 04:06, 25 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, KSAWikipedian,

I can see that you want to get involved in the administrative area of the project. But you are still a relatively new editor. In the future, please do not make drastic changes in an article right before you nominate it for deletion, especially do not remove sourced content. Your actions will just be undone by editors participating in a deletion discussion and most editors try to avoid being reverted. Thanks again for your contributions to the project and for being open to learning more on how to be a good contributor here. Liz Read! Talk! 03:11, 30 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Noted. Thank you. KSAWikipedian (talk) 16:51, 1 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Nafeesah Allen Ph.D.

[edit]

Hello! Can you please explain why my page for Nafeesah Allen Ph.D. was deleted and moved to Nafeesah Allen (without the Ph.D.)? Thank you! Leahfreemanhaskin (talk) 16:06, 19 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Leahfreemanhaskin (talk · contribs) I would love to, but what do you mean by when you say "my page?" Are you Nafeesah Allen? KSAWikipedian (talk) 17:23, 19 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No I am not Nafeesah Allen. I just mean "the page I am creating" Leahfreemanhaskin (talk) 17:25, 19 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Leahfreemanhaskin (talk · contribs), Did I leave a comment explaining the move? KSAWikipedian (talk) 17:30, 19 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I believe the reason was that you don't include Ph.D. in titles. Leahfreemanhaskin (talk) 17:37, 19 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
