Shamel Hughes is a Grammy Award-winning recording and mix engineer based in New York City. He has built a reputation as one of New York's most sought-after freelance engineers. Shamel has worked with numerous high-profile artists, including Alicia Keys, Busta Rhymes, H.E.R., Elle Varner, K.Michelle, Jadakiss and Emeli Sandé to name a few. He began his career as an assistant engineer at Quad Studios NYC and later apprenticed under Grammy Award-winning musician Swizz Beatz.


In addition to his engineering work, Shamel Hughes founded Hughes Media Group, LLC, which provides audio services for multimedia applications and specializes in branding and marketing new businesses, innovative arts, and educational programs.

In 2019, during the 61st Annual Grammy Awards Shamel was nominated for five awards, taking home two wins with H.E.R. for the Best R&B Album and Best R&B Performance.

Shamel graduated from Full Sail University with his Associate of Science Degree in Arts & Computer Science, a Bachelor of Arts in Entertainment Business and is currently studying for a Master of Science Degree in Innovation & Entrepreneurship. He will be open his music school in January 2025.
