Notes

[edit]

Hi! I have some notes on your draft:

The career section has some choppy sentences that needed to be edited to flow better. I've done some editing to the section to make it flow a little better and will do a little more editing as well, since some of this is going to be editing it for Wikipedia's smaller quirks. This section also lacks sourcing for some paragraphs, so it's important to properly source these.

The My Heritage source needs to be replaced with a more reliable one, as the site looks to accept user submissions and I believe is also reliant on what comes up via the Internet. This is an issue because not everything on the Internet is correct. The other sources look to be generally fine, although it would be good to try and find more academic and scholarly sources. I know that this may be easier said than done, since non-Caucasian people and women (let alone someone who is both non-Caucasian and female) tend to less frequently covered in the media.

Something else to be careful of is tone - you want to make sure to avoid adding anything that could be seen as a personal opinion or interpretation of the films, as this would be seen as original research. I've removed a statement in the short film section that sounded non-neutral and edited the section on Listen to flow a bit better.

I think that you've overall done good work here and this really just needs a few more sources at this point in time. Once you've done this you can move your work live whenever you like. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 19:26, 18 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ready for mainspace. Great job! You have a nice lead section and have added a lot of good information. Make sure you don’t overwrite too much of the existing text when you move your text to mainspace. I also recommend the following minor revisions:

  • Add more footnotes throughout to indicate where the information is coming from, in both the Biography and Short Films sections.
  • Fix minor errors: “her first feature-length fiction” should be “her first feature-length fiction film”
  • Delete “(British Academy of Film and Television Arts)” from the lead section.
  • Add additional reliable and independent secondary sources if you can. I recommend checking the university’s subscription databases.

Peer Review (Gossipgirl123456)

[edit]

I believe this article checks all the evaluation boxes. It is thorough, well cited and well written. My only suggestions for improvements are as follows:

I think that the 'Biography' section is pretty large, and could probably be broken down into sections (Early Life, Career, Education, etc). In addition, the Film subheadings should probably be italicized as they are all the names of films. However, overall, there aren't any major grammatical or spelling errors immediately visible - you should always double check though! It seems that your sources are reliable and all of your information is backed by citations. I would only suggest that you double check that your references are structured correctly (the actual citations are proper), as Wikipedia makes them for you and sometimes it's missing information (article title, source title, date, retrieved from, etc). I think that you should ensure that you avoid any writing that seems as if it may come from opinion by attributing statements to the person who made it (ie. avoid quotes from the filmmaker). Other than that, I think that the content is high quality, relevant and up to date. The subheadings in the filmography section are film titles, so you should include the year it was released in brackets.

All in all, I think that there are only minor improvements to be made as this is a great article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gossipgirl123456 (talkcontribs) 03:30, 5 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
