Welcome to Wikipedia!

[edit]

Welcome! (We can't say that loudly enough!)

Hello, L3gacyb3ta, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages you might find helpful:

If you have any questions or problems, no matter what they are, leave me a message on my talk page. Or, please come to the Help desk, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{Help me}} on your user talk page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.

Please sign your name on talk pages and votes by typing four tildes (~~~~); our software automatically converts it to your username and the date. We're so glad you're here! ~ L 🌸 (talk) 05:22, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I also want to add a quick apology for reverting your tag at Orcs: First Blood! It's great to be tagging things for improvement, but you ran into a quirk there, where plot summaries are assumed to have the book they summarize as their source (because they summary is not supposed to introduce any interpretation/assessment that wouldn't be obvious from the book). The summary could be cited to the book to make that source explicit (you can add those refs if you want!), but it's not considered "unreferenced" in the way most uncited material is. Thanks again for your edits, and I'm happy to answer questions any time! ~ L 🌸 (talk) 22:43, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh that's really interesting! Thank you so much, it's a pleasure to be here :>

WP:@ invite

[edit]

Hi, I happened to notice one of your edits and thought you might be interested in joining WP:@. We've got a lot of articles that could use translation from the French- and German-language wikipedias, if you'd like to get involved. Hope to see you around some more! -- asilvering (talk) 03:14, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oh that sounds right up my alley! Any places I should specifically look, on or off site? Arcade Wise (they/them) (talk) 05:06, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You mean suggestions for articles to translate? We've got a huge list of possible biographies at WP:ATFP. Most of the German and French ones have interlanguage links, which means the article already exists on de-wiki or fr-wiki and can be translated. Things to keep in mind while translating at WP:HOWTRANS. If you run into any trouble or confusion there, feel free to ask me any questions you have. When you're choosing a topic, aim for articles that have good sources - en-wiki is a lot pickier than de-wiki about in-text citations, and fr-wiki has a lot of articles on subjects that aren't notable by en-wiki's standards. It would be a real bummer to go to the trouble of translating something only to have it sent to WP:AFD for not being notable, or to have half the text removed for not being verifiable. If you're not sure if the sourcing is good enough on any particular article you found on WP:ATFP, feel free to ask for help on the WP:@ talk page. -- asilvering (talk) 08:32, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:The Lost Cause (Cory Doctorow) Cover.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused duplicate or lower-quality copy of another file on Wikipedia having the same file format, and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. v/r - Seawolf35 T--C 05:40, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Proposal to merge some small forestry articles

[edit]

Maybe your edit on a forestry article was small but as it was fairly recent and I am struggling to get comments from that wikiproject perhaps you would like to comment on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Ecoforestry#Merge_proposal Chidgk1 (talk) 10:13, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
