Control copyright icon Hello MoonlightTulsi, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your additions to Julia Reid have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 20:41, 7 December 2019 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on 2019 Czech protests requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-50446661. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. In this edit here, I reverted some information that appears to be a violation of our copyright policy.

I provided a brief summary of the problem in the edit summary, which should be visible just below my name. You can also click on the "view history" tab in the article to see the recent history of the article. This should be an edit with my name, and a parenthetical comment explaining why your edit was reverted. If that information is not sufficient to explain the situation, please ask.S Philbrick(Talk) 11:46, 25 March 2020 (UTC)

MP death articles

Hey, I noticed you'd done a 2020 and 1990 version of those lists, I hope you don't mind I substituted in a list I'd done for them in 2020 already, and am looking to do same with the 1990 one, just making sure I carry your references over. The only reason I stopped the lists was I had a discussion, and was told that they were unimportant and not encyclopedic information. Has that discussion changed? Because if so, I have lists for this dating back to the parliament of 1801 that I can get adding in. Thanks. Yoshi876 (talk) 19:10, 7 June 2020 (UTC)

Notice

The article Alasdair Walker has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Only extant article is Alasdair Walker (Royal Navy officer), which is primary topic and should be moved back to this name. This DAB serves no purpose. UK Ambassador to Eritrea is minor post and historically holders do not have pages.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ‡ Єl Cid of Valencia talk 17:43, 1 September 2020 (UTC)

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Naisi Chen. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Do not do this. MLAs

Please note that:

  • the stub template goes after the categories, not before them;
  • the article needs to include {{Saskatchewan MLAs}} between the references and the categories;
  • the article needs to have the DEFAULTSORT template before the categories, followed by the person's name in the "Last, First" format so that he alphabetizes correctly in the category;
  • the article needs to have the properly filled-out {{Infobox officeholder}} on it.

It's not helpful to create a half-done article that somebody else has to come in after you to clean up — it should be done properly from the start so that you're not making extra work for other people to fix. Thanks. Bearcat (talk) 05:39, 27 October 2020 (UTC)

Hello, MoonlightTulsi

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username John B123, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've proposed an article that you started, List of MPs elected in the 1865 United Kingdom general election, for deletion because it meets one or more of our deletion criteria, and I don't think that it is suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to contest the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click the Publish changes button.

If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|John B123}}. And remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. Thanks!

A tag has been placed on Category:Lists of marginal seats in Canada by election requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

Liz Read! Hi. I see in a recent addition to Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Apprenticeships and Skills you included material from a webpage that is available under a compatible OGL Licence. Notice

The article 2021 Haldimand—Norfolk federal by-election has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No by-election has been called and not one of the refs cited state a by-election has been called. The election rules allow the Prime Minister to wait as long as six months to hold any by-election and that is very likely to be preempted by a general election instead. The article is essentially claiming that the by-election is already happening when it has not been called and is unlikely to be called anytime soon. It falls in between WP:TOOSOON and WP:HOAX and needs to be deleted until a by-election is called and then only re-started with refs that actually support the existence of the event.

Speedy deletion nomination of Mitchelhill

Speedy deletion nomination of Mitchelhill

Hello Moondragon21,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username 1TWO3Writer and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I have tagged an article that you started, Mitchelhill for deletion, because it is unnecessary and disambiguates only a single page.

If you feel that the page shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. If the page is already deleted by the time you come across this message and you wish to retrieve the deleted material, please contact the deleting administrator.

For any further query, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|1TWO3Writer}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

1TWO3Writer (talk) 23:22, 14 June 2021 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Category:Mayors of Copenhagen requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, such as at Articles for deletion. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. * Pppery * it has begun... 21:04, 15 June 2021 (UTC)

Hello, Moondragon21,
Please do not recreate any page deleted on Wikipedia that was deleted through a deletion discussion (in this case Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2020 August 8#Mayors of populated places). It will just be tagged for deletion as well. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 00:51, 16 June 2021 (UTC)

Hi, I accepted your article because I think the man is notable, but the article is not yet wikipedia quality. Please do some more work on it. It needs more biography, it needs some account of his academic career, and it needs something on his activities as director of the institute, besides simply holding the post. The bit about the leak is far too obscure - either delete that or tell us the story. You also need more and better citations. If he really is notable, there will be references in the international press which you can include in your footnotes. Please don't just leave this now that it is through the AfC process - it's your baby, so make it grow. --Doric Loon (talk) 21:28, 4 July 2021 (UTC)

Notice

The article 2021 Croydon stabbings has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:NOTNEWS. No WP:SUSTAINED coverage. Per the sources, the stabbings are not even believed to be related ("The force said there was not yet any evidence to suggest all the stabbings were connected and that they were being treated as isolated incidents.", "Police say they are treating all the incidents, between 6.56pm and 9.12pm, as isolated.").

Speedy deletion nomination of 2021 Mexico bus crash

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Simon Peter Hughes, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I have tagged an article that you started, 2021 Mexico bus crash, for deletion, because it is a very short article that doesn't provide readers with enough context to determine who or what the subject is.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. If the page is already deleted by the time you come across this message and you wish to retrieve the deleted material, please contact the deleting administrator.

For any further query, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Simon Peter Hughes}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Hello, Moondragon21

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Govvy, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've proposed an article that you started, Roma United by Macedonia, for deletion because it meets one or more of our deletion criteria, and I don't think that it is suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to contest the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click the Publish changes button.

If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Govvy}}. And remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. Thanks!

A tag has been placed on Morais Guy requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

Notice

The article Abbas Halabi has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Notice

The article 2021 Democratic Republic of the Congo municipal elections has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Factually wrong—no local elections have ever been held under the 2006 constitution. For further info see this article section.

Possible duplicate page

Hi while stub sorting I found this page you created in February: Zoliswa Kota-Mpeko. However, it appears that this is likely the same person already covered at Zoe Kota-Fredericks (created in 2018). Note that the People's Assembly site links to the same exact person. Letting you know so that you can check, if it does turn out it is a dup, just redirect yours to the old one. Curbon7 (talk) 06:21, 19 May 2022 (UTC)

(Although since they're both equal length stubs and your article's name appears to be more correct, if you want to keep the credit for the creation and merge the old one into yours, I don't think anyone will mind.) Curbon7 (talk) 07:42, 19 May 2022 (UTC)

Notice

The article Kamehameha Heights, Hawaii has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No indication of notability. Neighborhood/subdivsion of a larger area. Searching finds mostly real estate listings.

MB 02:34, 17 June 2022 (UTC)

Autopatrolled granted

Hi Moondragon21, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the autopatrolled right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. However, you should consider adding relevant wikiproject talk-page templates, stub-tags and categories to new articles that you create if you aren't already in the habit of doing so, since your articles will no longer be systematically checked by other editors (User:Evad37/rater and User:SD0001/StubSorter.js are useful scripts which can help). Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! – Joe (talk) 16:55, 18 June 2022 (UTC)

When you created the article Member of Parliament (Sweden), you included this information: In the 2014 general election the centre-right coalition government got one less MP than the overall opposition, despite more votes in total.

I'm not quite following what you mean, since the voters in 2014 put the overall opposition (Red-Greens plus Sweden Democrats) about 18 percentage points ahead of the Alliance coalition government. Can you explain? Marima (talk) 18:03, 28 July 2022 (UTC)

Yasmeen Nazir

Hello, you were probably unaware, but there is currently a draft with the title Draft:Yasmeen Nazir which I, and a few others have been working on. I noticed that you recently created Yasmeen Nazir (Coronation Street), although what you might want to do is use all the information there and add it to the draft. The problem is that the one you have created has (Coronation Street) at the end. I assume you did this because there already is a page in the space Yasmeen Nazir (a redirect) although when my draft is ready, the draft will be overwritten by page movers and the page will go there. I don’t know how you feel but I would be so happy if you could help out with the draft. You may wish to copy information from the page you created and provide attribution. What do you think? Thanks, Blanchey (talk) 07:32, 30 August 2022 (UTC)

  • Hello, thankyou, I didn't know this. I had started a drafting the article off Wikipedia and I added (Coronation Street) because I thought it was standard. Your draft looks good, so I will help where I can, there's some things I can add. Cheers. Moondragon21 (talk) 23:36, 30 August 2022 (UTC)

Michigan House District Maps

Hello. I've noticed you've been putting Michigan house district map pictures back into the info boxes of the articles. I wanted to ask you to stop this. I've been removing the images for a reason: they're out of date. 2022 is the year that the Michigan house districts have updated based on the 2020 US Census. We do not have good, free to use images of the new districts yet, but I think it is still important to stop displaying the old district borders as if they are current. RoundSquare (talk) 16:05, 1 September 2022 (UTC)

  • Ok, I apologise, maybe it would be an idea to put the old district maps in the historic boundaries section of each of the articles. Moondragon21 (talk) 16:15, 1 September 2022

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Murder of Natalia Melmann. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). Thank you. Liz Read! WP:ANI discussion

Hi, I started a discussion at the admin noticeboard about Joe Roe, but your edits are part of the debate, so you have been mentioned there as well. You are free to contribute to the discussion. It's at WP:ANI#Joe Roe. Fram (talk) 08:06, 27 September 2022 (UTC)

Issues with your creations

  • Draft:Gonca Türkeli-Dehnert: you simply took the first source from the German article, and put it at random in your article, even though it didn't support the text it was added to or most of the information in the article. Please don't randomly add sources like this, and please don't create articles without checking for yourself that the info is correct, and adding the sources you used to do this.
  • Julia Hamburg: this is an unattributed straight translation of the lead of the German article. Please follow the instructions at Help:Translation, and please go back through your previous edits and add the necessary templates and/or edit summaries in all other instances where you did the same. Note that future failure to do this for new articles may lead to your account getting blocked. Fram (talk) 15:17, 22 September 2022 (UTC)
    • Fram This is what I've done for hundreds of articles and this is the first time I've been told this. I've never had any problems. Moondragon21 (talk) 16:25, 22 September 2022 (UTC)
      • Then you will have to go back through hundreds of articles and correct this. Fram (talk) 15:30, 22 September 2022 (UTC)
        • Fram I've never been told that before until now so I'm confused. I have had many good interactions with lots of people on Wikipedia but I'm sad to say this is the rudest I've experienced.Moondragon21 (talk) 15:36, 22 September 2022 (UTC)
          • I'm always amazed by editors who have created hundreds of articles (many of them deleted or moved to draftspace though), who have had previous instructions about e.g. copyright issues from other websites, and who still seem to believe that they can just translate someone else's work and think that they don't need to acknowledge this in any way, or who still seem to believe that adding some source who mentions the subject is sufficient to create an article, even if the source doesn't really support the article. @Joe Roe: you recently gave autopatrolled to this editor, but I think that this was premature, considering the large number of rejected or problematic articles, and the issues found now. Can you please remove it again? Fram (talk) 15:54, 22 September 2022 (UTC)

Please stop translating articles alltogether. You created Murder of Natalia Melmann as an unattributed translation of the Spanish article, but mangled it into incomprehensability.

"Gustavo Daniel “El Gallo” Fernández, a 30-year-old ex-convict with ties to Miramar police, kidnapped her. In it, she was taken [...]"

"In it"? In what? Oh, you omitted a sentence from the original, "Gustavo Daniel “El Gallo” Fernández, a 30-year-old ex-convict with ties to Miramar police, followed Natalia out of the Amadeus bowling alley. A few blocks from her, the subject intercepted her, forcing her to climb into the trunk of a car by force. In it, she was taken [...]" (Google translate of the original).

You should write your own articles, based on good sources, not on poor machine translations of other Wikipedia versions. Then we wouldn't get (from the same article) "Later skills link five involved since [...]" which is again nonsense. Fram (talk) 15:59, 22 September 2022 (UTC)

  • If you're wondering I have created 2,702 articles and only 58 have been deleted. I don't know why you're attacking my credibility and integrity like this. Moondragon21 (talk) 15:54, 22 September 2022 (UTC)
  • (Responding to ping) Moondragon21 you do need to attribute the source of your translations. I find {{Translated from}} the easiest way to do this. But if there are no other serious issues, I don't see a reason to pull autopatrolled. We all write things that don't make sense from time to time, whether writing in our native language or not. – Joe (talk) 05:32, 23 September 2022 (UTC)
    • Thank you Joe, I will make sure I do that from now on. Moondragon21 (talk) 07:46, 23 September 2022 (UTC)
    • @Joe Roe:, that is a worrying attitude, and completely disregards the other issues here (in my post, and in the posts above with articles moved to draft space and so on). I guess I'll just put it at the necessary noticeboard if any issues resurface, but I'm rather disappointed by your casual dismissal of issues and of your responsability here. Fram (talk) 07:58, 23 September 2022 (UTC)
    • Please note that Moondragon may pay lip service to what needs to be done, but can't be bothered to actually go through their old and recent contributions and indicate that it is a translated article, and is instead happily editing other stuff. Fram (talk) 08:00, 23 September 2022 (UTC)
What other issues? That one article had a missing sentence? God forbid you look through my editing, then, because I'm sure you'll find far worse inadvertent "mangling" than that. The notices about articles nominated for deletion or moved to draft were there before I granted autopatrolled, and I have already said that I took them into consideration. Otherwise all I'm seeing here is that Moondragon21 was not aware of one requirement of translating articles and that, now you've told him about it, he's said he'll do it (though I agree that you'll also have to put notices on your existing creations, Moondragon21). If there's anything else I'm all ears. – Joe (talk) 11:07, 23 September 2022 (UTC)
      • That article missed a lot more than one sentence, but I guess the concept of an example is too difficult. "The notices about articles nominated for deletion or moved to draft were there before I granted autopatrolled", not true. There were multiple draftifications, prods, and afds after your probably premature autopatrol granting, as you could easily see if you, I don't know, looked at this talk page, and checked the sections between your granting in June and this very section. And of course there was the other issue at the top of this very section, about Moondragon not checking the articles he creates at all, just taking the first source from the article they create and placing it at random in the article, without any interest in whether it actually supports the text it accompanies. Which is a dreadful editing practice, again lip service to avoiding a BLP prod without any interest in actual decent article writing. Instead of being all ears, try being all eyes next time, or stop granting autopatrolled to people if you really don't care about any of this. Fram (talk) 11:17, 23 September 2022 (UTC)
  • @Joe Roe: Hi can I ask for some help. The article Murder of Natalia Melmann was moved to draftspace while I was editing it in the mainspace (Draft:Murder of Natalia Melmann). Now I'm stuck. Please can I have some help merging it back to the original state. Moondragon21 (talk) 16:14, 24 September 2022 (UTC)
I've merged the histories of the two versions back together at Murder of Natalia Melmann. As Fram says, please add {{translated article}} to the talk page (if it does contain translations from eswiki). – Joe (talk) 06:27, 27 September 2022 (UTC)
Congrats, @Joe Roe:, you just put an unattributed translation back into the mainspace, knowing full well that it was such an unacceptable policy violation. Please put the necessary sanctions on yourself for this reckless behaviour. Fram (talk) 07:42, 27 September 2022 (UTC)

Comments from Gerda

Moondragon21, in case you didn't know before, you have been told now that translations from other Wikipedias need attribution: provide the link to the foreign article in the edit summary of the first edit, and declare the translation on the talk page, best using {{translated}}. It would be the best use of your time if you'd not find rude that you get informed, but make the changes. You can't help the first edits but please please please make the talk page attribution for the articles you translated, and yes if it's hundreds, do it for hundreds. Unattributed translation is a copyright violation, and Wikipedia takes copyright seriously. I just translated Markus Becker (pianist) from de:Markus Becker (Pianist), - you can take the attributions for an example. Next step: if you are not willing to find references yourself, please don't translate from German, at all. I'm not done with Becker in that respect, but need a break. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:14, 27 September 2022 (UTC)

  • Moondragon, you acknowledged the same advice at least once above, to Joe Roe, at 07:46, 23 September 2022. And as Gerda says, you need to make sure the articles have references that support the information. You're responsible for doing that in all material you add to Wikipedia, translated or not. Can I ask you please, can you really read German, or are you using a translation program, like Google Translate or the WMF translation tool? I was waiting for you to respond to the AN/I and clarify how you get the text for your articles. I'm afraid the mistakes in Gonca Türkeli-Dehnert suggest that you don't understand the German, but it's possible you were working from some other source? There are bad auto-translations on the web. If you have been using translation programs, including the WMF one, you also need to know that English Wikipedia doesn't accept machine translations, because they are so unreliable. So can you clarify what you've been doing, please? And I'm afraid that as I've said at AN/I, I don't believe you should be working with German text, which is why I wonder whether you in fact had some intermediary text you used that you didn't realise was full of inaccuracies. Yngvadottir (talk) 20:18, 27 September 2022 (UTC)

Hallo, I had just decided that this woman would tick the boxes for all 3 of next month's Women in Red editathons (West Asia, engineer, H) and then my searches found your draftified version. I have added a ref to a UNESCO source which I hope will help if you want to try it again.

Google translate makes that into: "Harbia Al Himiary (37), who has 15 years of experience, is the first female architect and engineer to lead a team in UNESCO's rehabilitation project to save intricate stone carvings and architectural heritage of the old city of Sanaa in Yemen. In a difficult security and materials supply environment, she manages a team of 24 people, designed and facilitated capacity building opportunities for women, and helped train 211 engineers, carpenters and specialists, including approximately half are women. She is deeply proud of her work to conserve Yemen's architectural heritage, which also helps develop opportunities for Yemeni women."
