Help me please

[edit]

Mtattrain, can you please help me with something...I remember I once reverted your R32 J train because the train was way too far away, until I found out that you recently updated that same exact image to zoom it more closely. Can you please show me how to do that too? I also want to do the same for all of my recently new images that I uploaded, to zoom my images a bit more close to the entire train. Please. Thanks. However, I think the L train images that I uploaded are perfectly fine, however. JoesphBarbaro (talk) 21:13, 29 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there JosephBarbaro. To crop the image, I used Adobe Photoshop. However, if you have Microsoft Paint, I believe there is a cropping tool that you can use to crop images (unless you don't have a Windows computer). If this wasn't helpful, please feel free to ask me for more information. -T

Damn. I don't have Microsoft Paint at all. I do have Windows 7 though. I tried, but failed. I see what else I can do for the time being. But thanks anyways. JoesphBarbaro (talk) 20:04, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Message from Commons

[edit]

Hey Mtattrain. I just wanted to let you know that JoesphBarbaro mentioned you on Wikimedia Commons. He said, I'm trying to talk a close shot of my A, D, F train images. Just now, I've downloaded a 31-day free trial version of Photoshop, but I don't know how to follow the steps properly. Remember MTAtrain's most recent uploaded R32 J train images? That's the best shot he ever took IMO. Basically, he just needs your help. ;) epic genius (talk) 19:16, 25 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Bee-Line Bus System

[edit]

Just a heads up...your recent edit to Bee-Line Bus System shows fleet number 109 going to both BAT Community Connector AND South Portland bus service. Is this an error? --Allamericanbear (talk) 15:47, 12 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

^^ I think it is. I'll check the sources where I got the info. Thanks for the heads up. -T

Thanks for the new R160 F train image

[edit]

Hey thanks for the new R160 image at Avenue P on the F train article. It is certainly ten times better looking than the old, darker looking one at Herald Square. Now, if only we can find a visibly clearer, neater and better looking R46 R train image. JoesphBarbaro (talk) 21:30, 11 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Mtattrain, I put your R160 F train image at the Avenue P if that's okay with you...I did it because I only have an iPad. I currently don't have a regular zooming quality camera. If I did, I would have just simply took a zooming shot of an R46 F train at Avenue P to match it with your current R160 one. Sorry about that. JoesphBarbaro (talk) 20:43, 27 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

^ That's fine - T

R42 4665

[edit]

Hi T Train,

I was wondering if you could help me track down more info on R42 car 4665, who's native pair was involved in the accident on the bridge. I didn't think the car was still around (assumed it had been scrapped) and have a specific question I'm trying to get answered. From the Wiki page it says that the car now belongs to "Railway Preservation Corp" and is stored at Coney Island Yard. Do you know any contact info for them or any way I could see the car in person? Thanks! Drumz0rz (talk) 21:53, 18 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

World's Fair Lo-V 5655 and Deck Roof Hi-v 3662

[edit]

The last world's fair lo-v, no. 5655 is currently at the 207th street yard. If it is possible, can you snap a picture of that car so I can use the World's Fair Lo-V article (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World%27s_Fair_Lo-V_(New_York_City_Subway_car)? 5655 looks like this: https://www.nycsubway.org/perl/show?61796

If the car is stored in a place where you cannot get a good picture of it, or if it is in a place where you cannot see it, or in a place off limits to the public, then you don't have to do anything about it.

At the same time, see if you can go to the Shore Line Trolley Museum (aka the Branford Electric Railway) and take a picture of the last Deck Roof Hi-V, no 3662. That way, I can use that image for the Wikipedia Deck Roof Hi-V article (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deck_Roof_Hi-V_(New_York_City_Subway_car)). 3662 looks like this: https://www.nycsubway.org/perl/show?6891

Again, if you don't see it can't get a good picture of it, or if the car is stored off limits to the public, don't do anything about it.

See if you can do any of these. And please let me know on my talk page whenever you get the chance. Thanks.

--Davidng913 (talk) 17:57, 25 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

- When I get home, I'll check out my images. I think I have images of the WF Lo-V, but I remember zooming heavily with a reasonably quality camera to take a picture of the World's Fair Lo-V, so the quality may be a bit lower. No Hi-V image. - T

-Alright, thanks. --Davidng913 (talk) 14:52, 27 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

In this edit you wrote that "There is also an additional closed passageway at the south end of the station that leads to the at the southeast corner of 174th Street and Fort Washington Ave." Where is there any documentation for this? > No, I don't really wish to share photos of closed locations (unless people want me to). Mtattrain (talk) 21:49, 29 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Is this from within the closed passageway itself or from the outside of it? I don't see any other reference to this passageway, so your images are the only way to cite them.--Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 21:55, 29 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, I am compiling a list User:Kew Gardens 613/List of closed New York City Subway entrances that will go into the List of closed New York City Subway stations article. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.--Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 22:01, 29 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

M train etc

[edit]

I reverted your edit to (Template:NYCS Jamaica west) because right after the Middle Village to Myrtle–Wyckoff Avenues shuttle was discontinued, a Middle Village to Myrtle Avenue late night shuttle showed up, as shown here. Cards84664 (talk) 18:14, 16 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

> Okay, but the problem with that is the shuttle is still labeled M (similarly, the Dyre shuttle is still a 5, as seen here), so indicating that the M does not stop at Myrtle/Broadway at night is misleading. Mtattrain (talk) 18:15, 16 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Find/Take Better Image to Replace Current Q Train Article Picture

[edit]

I was wondering if you can take any more pictures and replace the current picture. I am not a fan of the current picture due to it being a bit too bright. Also, I am not a fan of using an image of a train with a wrap on it.

You can alternatively try to find another existing image on Commons to replace it. However, it is most probably going to get reverted due to the fact that someone keeps insisting on keeping the original image. ALso, check out the talk page for the Q train article because there is a little poll that I set up for existing images. But please do upload some of your own if you believe if you can come up with an image that is even better.

Many thanks, Davidng913 (talk) 02:46, 4 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Tentative retirement timeline for the existing R32, and R42 subway cars

[edit]

Dear Mtatrain,

This was told to me by NYCTA's Cars and Shops Department that due to the ongoing ironing-out of the bugs, and other long term modifications, and warranty work by Bombardier for their R179 subway cars, all remaining R32, and R42 cars will remain in passenger service until the 2021-2022 time frame. Maybe all R179's can really prove themselves to be reliable performer by then. There is currently a car shortage within the BMT/IND services, due to the unitization of many cars linked into 4 or 5 car units resulting in a defect in one car will lead to four or five cars being removed from service, and shopped simultaneously.

Sincerely Joe Lee jlee39@verizon.net — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2604:2000:610B:4600:F83D:4988:870D:BAF9 (talk) 10:18, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

> That's tentative. I think they've ironed out most bugs by now, and from what I hear there's actually no shortage anymore. R42s currently scheduled to retire sometime this year, if not next year. R32s may last until the R211s though. Mtattrain (talk) 16:37, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Even More Picture Requests

[edit]

Because there are so many things I could think of to make the NYC Subway articles better, I can't seem to stop asking you to take pictures. I hope I am not bothering you too much...

Anyway, there are a quite a number of picture requests I can think of right now. This is all NYC Subway/Staten Island Railway related. The reason I am choosing you is because you are an excellent photographer, and you photos have placed a huge interest for me. The following photos I would like you to take are:

>Done
  • R46 train operating on the
>Done
  • Deck Roof Hi-V car 3662 at the Shore Line Trolley Museum in Conneticut (the only Deck Roof car left in existence).
  • R42 train operating on the shuttle (has a brown )
>Done

That is currently all I can think of right now. See what you can do about these. Thanks. --Davidng913 (talk) 17:34, 29 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

> I can get a R46 C image and R42 M image immediately. Don't know about the rest. Mtattrain (talk) 21:35, 29 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Keep up the good work! You may need to take trips to the trolley museums to get the Deck Roof and SIRT ME-1s. Plus the fact that the shuttle with the blue S (and maybe the yellow S if possible) only runs during the late nights.
In case you need the Shore Line Trolley Museum address, it is 17 River Street, East Haven, Connecticut
--Davidng913 (talk) 17:55, 30 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Last picture requests before I think we have all requirements: R68A "G" train Train, R179 "A" train train, and R68 (not R68A) "Q" train Train. Although the R68A "Q" train train picture does work, car assignments clearly say R68. Thanks. —Davidng913 (talk) 00:31, 12 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
>Need to look for the R68A G pic, but I think I have one. They sometimes run an R68A on the Q, so I think that is fine. Mtattrain (talk) 18:09, 26 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Automation on the F?

[edit]

Hey, I was wondering about your edit summary. Is the F actually going to be automated by the end of this year? I'd ask on the main NYC Public Transportation project page, but you seem to be knowledgeable about it. epicgenius (talk) 23:50, 7 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Epicgenius: CBTC is going into effect on the Queens Boulevard Line express tracks between Roosevelt and Continental on December 23 according to sources in NYCT. As a result, the long-awaited R46/R160 swap is happening.--Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 00:58, 8 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Kew Gardens 613, thanks for the reply. Should we mention this in the R46/R160 pages? I think this may warrant a mention there, but definitely not in the F, N, Q, R, and W train articles, where an anonymous user is adding info about fleet swaps. epicgenius (talk) 01:12, 8 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
> I would hold off on that, given other more experienced editors' inclinations to take down unsourced stuff. That's why, for example, I couldn't change the R179 total from 316 to 318 despite knowing about the 2-car increase months before it was revealed last January. Mtattrain (talk) 02:50, 8 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
>@Epicgenius and Kew Gardens 613: as a matter of fact, some IP took the effort to revert my edit on the pictures displayed on the F train article, so yeah lol might as well wait it out. Mtattrain (talk) 17:28, 9 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

R36 Subway Article Merge Proposal

[edit]

Hey Mtattrain,

Apparently there is now a proposal to merge the R36 (New York City Subway car) article with the R36 World's Fair (New York City Subway car) article. Thanks to you helping us figure out the official designation of each of the subway car classes, and moving the R36 WF info to the main R36 page, I am now proposing to merge the articles.

If you don't mind, please share your thoughts on the merger proposal. And also ask others to share their opinions if possible. The more that share, the better to make the decision. Afterwards, I will execute the decision and either merge the pages or leave them as is. Thanks.

Potential copyvio for File:R188s 7558 with new LCD Advertisement Screens.jpg

[edit]

Hello Mtattrain. I have noticed that Rgalo has uploaded a picture of a screen on a NYC subway train, that may contain a copyrighted advertisement. The file is here. Due to the subject of the picture being a potentially copyrighted advertisement, I think this violates Commons:Commons:De minimis#Guidelines. In your opinion, should this picture be deleted? ETI 15TrSF (Chat Box) 07:42, 21 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

For what it's worth, people have uploaded pictures of 42nd St shuttle trains in ad wrappings, and some of the worse citations are videos of the ad screens displaying ads, so I don't think there's much wrong with it. With that being said, he is still a massive annoyance. Mtattrain (talk) 18:20, 21 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Unused NYC subway page for 149-Grand Concourse?

[edit]

Hi there!

Are you able to create a page for the closed elevators for 149-Grand Concourse? I don't think anyone has ever taken pictures of the closed portion. 161.185.160.182 (talk) 11:53, 5 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

> Can't get in easily, but I can prob write up the history of the elevators. Mtattrain (talk) 15:35, 5 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

>>That sounds great! It would be a great time to clarify what was so unsafe about the elevators, though I'm probably thinking that the elevators not being placed in the middle like the other stations forced the MTA to shut them down in 1975. I have a few more in my mind, such as the walled up portions at 3 Ave-149 St (I think the underpass is still there since they were probably closed after 1989... or 1997?) MTA Subway only has one picture of the closed portion. And how about the closed middle mezzanine Tremont Ave and 167 St (B)(D) stations? 161.185.161.29 (talk) 11:34, 6 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

> I would think the underpass at 3rd Ave/149 was closed because of security reasons, and it's also a remnant of a transfer to the 3rd Ave El; I doubt that one is easy to access too. I think Tremont Ave's mezzanine was partitioned off to make room for offices and also for security, similar to why Inwood 207th St's mez was shortened. I'll look into the history of the elevators in full detail later, but from what I know, you'd have to do a good deal of modifications to make the elevators accessible for ADA people. > @161.185.160.182: I have just made a page for 149th St, Grand Concourse: [1]. Might not write a page for Tremont Avenue, since the only thing closed there is part of a mezzanine.

>>Would you have any luck with the closed/sealed portion of the old South Ferry platform? Well, the one that the (5) train uses to turns around, not the one that the (1) used throughout its history? And maybe the old Bowling Green platforms? I'd love to see pictures of both, especially the latter. 161.185.160.182 (talk) 11:38, 13 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

> Difficult to get into both, although I have seen videos of people sneaking their way into the inner South Ferry platform. I need to learn more about those spots in any case. Mtattrain (talk) 18:24, 13 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Rgalo socks

[edit]

I can't do anything about commons, unfortunately. I saw your request for checkuser on commons, and there is one bit of good news...since they're abusing multiple accounts on multiple projects, we can start requesting global locks on their accounts (so if we find a sock on one project, we can get it locked so that it can't edit any project). GeneralNotability (talk) 16:49, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Well, okay, we could have done that before, I just noticed that they're marked as an SPI we're supposed to globally lock. Oh well. GeneralNotability (talk) 16:49, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

> Thanks for the response. Seemingly most admins seem to agree that they just block/globally lock his accounts on site, as opposed to barring him from making new accounts to begin with. I suppose all I can do is observe that agreement. Mtattrain (talk) 17:29, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
