Userboxes

[edit]

Hi Pediaguy16,

I was just wondering why you've got the Recent Changes Patrol and New Pages Patrol userboxes on your userpage. As far as I can see, you are not a member of either. Please correct me if I'm mistaken.

If I am right and you are not members of the Patrols, please remove them so that you do not mislead people. Thanks!

Cheers, Yuser31415@?mop 05:30, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Pediaguy16!
I have commented out the userbox on your userpage that says that you are a member of the CVU. If I am wrong in thinking that, please uncomment the userbox and contact me on my talk page. Thanks!
Yuser31415@?mop 19:39, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hi 'Pedia!
I notice you've added your userbox on your userpage again. However, you don't appear to be a member of the category the userbox suggests. Could you please explain this on my talk page? Thanks!
Yuser31415@?clean 04:06, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Errrm ... A reply, please? Yuser31415@?#& 22:43, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Please reply. Ignoring other peoples' comments without reason is considered disruptive. Please, please, please, 'please' reply. Yuser31415@?#& 05:50, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Replying to your message on my talk page: because I've asked you a question and you haven't answered. I'll say it again: on your userpage, you have two userboxes; one says "This user is a recent changes patroller" and the other says "This user is a member of the Counter-Vandalism Unit". It's fine with the recent changes userbox, but you are not a member of the Counter-Vandalism Unit, at least last time I checked. Please remove this userbox. Thank you. Yuser31415@?#&help! 19:34, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It now appears you are a member. That's great. Maybe the category wasn't updated ;) You may forget about it now. Yuser31415@?#&help! 05:44, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Button

[edit]

Pediaguy, I like your buttons, but I don't think those should be in the template namespace. I am moving them to your userspace. It's a nice joke though :) semper fiMoe 21:39, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, all finished moving it :) Try and keep as many things out of the template namespace where it isn't needed. Template are really for things that are for the encyclopedia's use, and this joke really doesn't qualify :) The userspace is for soemthing like this. Cheers! semper fiMoe 22:14, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

again on the button

[edit]

Nice joke, but how and why did you added it to my page? At the beginning i felt a little unconfortable with this kind of spamming like actions. ALoopingIcon 21:44, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks!

Weird but it brightens up the place. : ) --Basique 21:48, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Button, Button, but...

[edit]

OK, cute and harmless joke with the button, I appreciated it. However, don't lose track that this is an encyclopedia, and your contributions to the encyclopedia should amount to more than your contributions to user pages. Too many of these jokes balanced by too little effort on the encyclopedia will start to wear on people's good humor. —Doug Bell talk 22:58, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've restore this comment. Note: You do not WP:OWN this page, and while users are granted great leeway over their user pages and talk pages, it is considered very bad form to delete comments from talk pages. Please don't do it. —Doug Bell talk 19:59, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Subpages

[edit]

Hi again, I jst have suggestion about when you create another sub-page. I saw that you created User:Pediaguy16ha, which is fine, but next time, please create it with a / between your name and the rest of it like User:Pediaguy16/ha. Adding the / makes it your sub-page, addming your name alone doesn't make it your sub-page. Thanks! semper fiMoe 23:23, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: An idea

[edit]

Hey (aeropagitica) I had an idea I think we should get rid the users that don't have accounts you know ip usrs. Because I was looking at the Recent changes page and it looked like most of the ip users are vandals. So if we get rid of them we will have less vandals do you think thats a good idea? --Pediaguy16 18:36, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I take it that this is a joke, yes? If you block all anonymous IP editors, how would anyone ever be able to even read the articles, let alone edit them - or even sign up for a user account? Plenty of vandals sign up for user accounts that they can then abandon when blocked, so this approach solves nothing. This is the encyclopedia that "... anyone can edit", as it says on the front page. Put some more thought in to your comments before you make them - this appears to be a troll and a few of those could have you blocked if your correspondents decide to interpret them in a negative light. Hi there Pediaguy16,

I just wanted to apologize for asking you five or six times to reply above. I have just learned that the action is in itself disruptive and I'd like to say "Sorry".

Please note that you have never blanked any pages or, addition of random text or spam, deliberate misinformation, privacy violations, and other deliberate attempts to disrupt Wikipedia are considered vandalism. Orphaned fair use image (Image:04 features internet channel.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:04 features internet channel.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. NMajdantalk 01:50, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image:458px-LZ129.jpg listed for deletion

[edit]
Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:458px-LZ129.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, a non-profit website, this is in fact not the case. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. feydey 05:24, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Colorized images

[edit]

I like your enthusiasm, but I don't think colorized images are generally encyclopedia material. I believe articles like LZ 129 Hindenburg are better off with the original, unadulterated images. --Yath 22:04, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

EF5 image

[edit]

Yes, the media is reporting the tornado as EF5 (and I've confirmed it in personal communication with pertinent NWS personnel) but there is nothing stating that specific building/photo is an example of it, or what was used to determine the rating. Evolauxia 19:08, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tornadoes are rated by damage to specific structures (and vegetation), unless there is an official source saying that the structure in the photograph was determined to be EF5 level damage, it will be reverted. Not all damage at Greesnburg is EF5, that is not justification. Also, there is still no official documentation yet that the tornado itself was EF5, though the media is relaying an announcement made by the NWS. Evolauxia 19:29, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:1 cardboard.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. (ESkog)(Talk) 21:12, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image without license

[edit]

Unspecified source for Image:1 cardboard.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:1 cardboard.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:1 cardboard.png.

(ESkog)(Talk) 00:44, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Gamepad.gif. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Thanks for uploading Image:WindowsNeptunelogo.png. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Problems with upload of File:Tsar Bomb.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Tsar Bomb.gif. You don't seem to have said where the image came from, who created it, or provided a license tag. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.

To add this information, select the appropriate license tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the information to the image's description. If you can't find a suitable license tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. If you need help, post your question on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 22:05, 23 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:SMB.JPG

[edit]
⚠
Thanks for uploading File:SMB.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. JaGatalk 22:52, 11 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Resulthinden.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Resulthinden.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{permission pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. Here is a list of your uploads. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 14:16, 10 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
