Warning users

[edit]

Hello, I've looked through some of your vandalism reverts and they look pretty good. Just remember to warn the users you revert. The de facto standard is by creating a new section on their user talk page with the month and date (eg. September 2017), and paste a warning template under it (see Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace), starting from level 1 and slowly elevating it to level 4. If they vandalize beyond that point, you can report them to WP:AIV. It's actually not strictly necessary to elevate warnings one at a time, from 1 to 4, but it's the safest and most foolproof option until you gain enough experience to know when to "break" these standards. Once you have access to Twinkle, you'll be able to do these actions much more quickly. Thanks! Darylgolden(talk) Ping when replying 04:39, 6 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve Wikipedia

[edit]

Hello again, Redgro. I have actually never used Twinkle, so I can't advise you about using it; Darylgolden could probably offer more information if not busy, or you could ask at the Teahouse. Sometimes when I want to correct grammar errors, I will pick a common one and use the search function to find Wikipedia pages with that error. For example, last month I searched on the phrase criteria is and clicked the "containing... criteria is" link at the bottom of the drop-down. Some of the pages were using that phrase correctly, but I fixed many that were not. Congratulations on becoming auto-confirmed! Feel free to ask me any other questions you may have, or to visit the Teahouse where there are other editors with different specialties who may be able to answer your questions better than I can. —GrammarFascist contribstalk 16:13, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

vandalism

[edit]

Welcome to the club. We know we are doing something right when the vandals vandalize our user pages. A userbox that might interest you-- {{User:Vishwin60/Userbox/vandalized|x}} where "x" is the number of times.Cheers, Dlohcierekim (talk) 16:54, 3 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Habitat

[edit]

For your information, you added an "unreferenced" tag to the lead section of Habitat but I have removed it. This is because the lead section is supposed to summarise the contents of the main body of the text and not introduce any facts that are not mentioned in the rest of the article. So the lead does not need citations, because all of the information is (hopefully) cited elsewhere. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 10:45, 5 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback granted

[edit]

Hi Redgro. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Alex ShihTalk 16:33, 5 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Huggle messages

[edit]

Make sure you're using the right messages with Huggle. Two of your recent rollbacks have been for reasons other than what you stated in the edit summary. —C.Fred (talk) 18:02, 5 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Vandal

[edit]

Hello, Redgro. I'm curious: Do you know who Ezzy436 is? Thanks —DoRD (talk) 19:03, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@DoRD: Yes he is a sockpuppet of Vanished user 5g6brbadLOiImSJylcnP. If you look on his talk pages history and scroll down, you can see one of Noysters revisions says Multiple account warning:Ezzy436. Also can you please extended confirmed protect (I have made a request on the RPP) my user page if it's not already because of this vandalism. Thanks! Redgro (talk) 19:08, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I was aware of the connection to the Vanished user, but I was hoping that you could be a bit more specific, as in do you know who the person is? —DoRD (talk) 22:51, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The article Henry Bolton has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

I do not feel this page is necessary and would mean Henry Bolton (British politician) could be moved here

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. RfA

[edit]

Hi Redgro. The English Wikipedia is the only one that still does not have rules for who can vote and/or comment on RfA. All the others require voters to have been registered for some time and have significant experience that at least demonstrates they know what adminship is all about. You may have noticed that there is already a long discussion on that RfA that the number of user questions is already totally excessive, and posing more won't change the outcome. Please read WP:RFAV, and if you ever need help with anything, don't hesitate to ask - I don't bite newcomers who are genuinely here to help. Happy editing. Autoblock

Block message:

Autoblocked because your IP address was recently used by "BlueJoshua300". The reason given for BlueJoshua300's block is: "Vandalism".

Decline reason: Now blocked directly for violations of WP:SOCK. There's much too much overlap in editing, here, so I suspect WP:GOODHAND. You've essentially admitted WP:MEAT in any case. Yamla (talk) 11:13, 19 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Friends of the Earth-Ghana requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Request reason:

I am sorry for using other accounts to vandalise. The other accounts I used are blocked vandals and I can not use them again. I make good contributions with this account and I will continue to improve Wikipedia when I'm unblocked. This account being blocked hinders me from making good contributions.

Decline reason:

As noted below, a vandal-socking block requires the use of the Standard Offer after a significant term of no socking or block evasion. The Bushranger One ping only 23:16, 31 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I'd suggest reading Standard Offer and come back in 6-12 months and we can talk about this. Vandal socking is generally a zero tolerance offense and I can't see letting you off w/o at least a six month block. In the meantime you need to list all of your other accounts. Also be aware that if there is any evidence of block evasion your chances of ever being unblocked will drop to near zero. -Ad Orientem (talk) 14:38, 30 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Redgro. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Friends of the Earth-Ghana".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. » Shadowowl | talk 14:21, 22 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
