Hello world

[edit]

Glad to be among the ranks of "Wikipedians". As a researcher in the field of information literacy and, in particular, such a school of the "new generation" as Wikipedia, I think, however, my contribution to this project is quite insignificant. Why? And because as of May 2021, there are more than 55 million articles written by volunteers from around the world! I personally have several Wikipedia accounts (in different languages). Some of them, I decided to call my real name (while uploading my real photo). To build such a powerful platform, in my opinion, an important component is "openness of participants."

Welcome!

27.09.2021 - 17:47, 27 September 2021 diff hist +764‎ Wikimedia Foundation ‎ →‎Governance: Updated information as of 2021 Tag: Reverted. Brief description. I updated the information on the board of directors of the fund - as of the summer of 2021, citing as a source - the minutes of the meeting, which took place in June (not to be unfounded). ["Meeting of the Board / June 2021 / Minutes" (English). Wikimedia Foundation. June 1-2, 2021] In the Advisory Board section, I singled out a senior community development manager and a responsible public relations manager. When reviewing the minutes, please note that the experts are directly present at this board meeting and are involved in advising the latter. Among other things, they provide interactive presentations on the current state of affairs, and offer an annual plan to help clarify and set priorities for the coming year. (Looking at Wikipedia in other languages, I noticed a tendency to completely omit information about the Advisory Board in articles).

28.09.2021 - 17:11, 28 September 2021 diff hist +916‎ Talk:Wikipedia ‎ →‎Editing page from 28.09.21: new section current. Brief description. I added a new subheading to the Wikipedia article, titled "Current Status," which was unfortunately missing before. If, before that, the article provided information mainly for 2007-19, I provided a more updated one - with references to relevant sources. (For example, the global ranking of the encyclopedia's attendance has changed significantly since January 14, 2017, according to the same Alexa.com source cited in the article. If previously Wikipedia was in 5th place, then by February 2020 Wikipedia ranked eleventh in the world by Internet traffic). In addition, I propose to consider the "current state" section of Wikipedia as one that needs to be constantly updated (possibly once a year) according to new statistics.

The object of hostility or annoying misunderstanding. (Continuation)

[edit]

Have you ever been accused of wrong motives? For a person who values his reputation, this is quite a challenge. Unfortunately, something happened to me as a Wikipedia user that I can't accept or fully understand. As I mentioned above, I have more than one account. I have them in different languages. And some of them, I decided to call by their name. According to the rules of Wikipedia - this is allowed! Although it warns of danger - in terms of "persecution" by offended contributors (whose posts, for example, I could recommend for removal). However, creating a "real account" is my right. And given the arguments I set out above (at the beginning) - I decided to use it. Because I'm currently working on many projects outside of Wikipedia, I don't have time to pay as much attention and time to my Wikipedia accounts as I would like. (So in some languages, I log in to my account quite rarely. [By the way, English is not my native language]) I am the developer of an international innovative education system. (And I wanted to consider Wikipedia more as a partner). And now I spend a lot of time actually on these "non-Wikipedia projects". However, from now on I will be more careful to publish information so that it does not become a "stumbling block" for anyone and does not draw excessive attention to my person. Thanks. --Shaban Roman Petrovich (talk) 18:46, 27 September 2021 (UTC)

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. I am glad to see that you are discussing a topic. However, as a general rule, talk pages (including user talk pages) are for discussion related to improving (a) an encyclopedia article in specific ways based on reliable sources or (b) project policies and guidelines. They are not for general discussion about the article topic or unrelated topics, or statements based on your thoughts or feelings. If you have specific questions about certain topics, consider visiting our reference desk and asking them there instead of on article talk pages. Thank you. Thank you for your point of view😊

[edit]

I respect your point of view. And thank you. for a friendly tone (which is unfortunately lacking in some other users). However, I want to explain that this page is not a forum. In it, I explained in a few words - only directly what concerns me as a registered user and editor of Wikipedia. In addition, you correctly noted that "usually" the discussion page is intended to improve encyclopedic articles. That's why I will try to use it.

In addition, today I have further reduced the information about the situation that has happened to me, so that it is not a stumbling block for you. --Shaban Roman Petrovich (talk) 16:12, 28 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Arbitration Request for Wikimedia Foundation

[edit]

I would also like to ask for help with my editing of the Wikimedia Foundation article. On August 27, I published updated information, as of 2021. However, the user WikiLinuz canceled it - without proper explanation. Thanks! --Shaban Roman Petrovich (talk) 16:12, 28 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Your help desk question

[edit]

You have responses. No one was able to read your question so you need to find the Wikipedia for your language and ask. English Wikipedia is not the "headquarters". I don't know how your being blocked will affect this.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 23:59, 8 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
