File permission problem with File:Portrait of Abhay Kumar by Vasily Bertyanyuk - Oil on Canvas.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Portrait of Abhay Kumar by Vasily Bertyanyuk - Oil on Canvas.png. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 20:46, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Bal Bharati Public School logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for making legal threats or taking legal action, as you did at User talk:Suyashgarg1986. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

You are not allowed to edit Wikipedia while the threats stand or the legal action is unresolved. Black Kite (talk) 20:36, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

Hi Black Kite, first of all, big thank you for solving the Abhay Kumar page issue and reverting it. My sincere apologies for posting a legal threat on Suyash's talk page. Since the person involved in the defamation was a Government Employee and a Public Figure, I was asked by the designated authorities to take action on the issue right away. Legal threat was my last resort, I tried a number of times to manually revert the page, but when the changes from other 2 users went overboard, I dropped you a message. Also, in all honesty, I didn't know there were any such Wiki policies. Please unblock my account, this will not be repeated. My sincere apologies. And again, thank you for saving the page, my hard work would have gone to vain otherwise. Shivam Sharma 07:17, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

Decline reason:

You haven't withdrawn your threat. Max Semenik (talk) 07:30, 26 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Hi Max, I just check Suyash's page, my post is not there: User_talk:Suyashgarg1986. Shivam Sharma 07:35, 26 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

The above is still not a full and complete retraction as per WP:NLT (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 10:14, 26 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Hi Bwilkins, I just went through WP: NLT, thanks for directing me to the page. This is to assure you we are not pursuing any legal Proceeding on this front, nor have I or Mr. Abhay Kumar has filed any legal complaint. Please guide me how to "withdraw my threat" from wiki, also, I'd like to clear that no threat was made against wiki. Anyway,it's not really an excuse for my misconduct. My apologies, would really appreciate if you could tell me how to un-do this, because I'd love to continue contributing to Wiki, as I have in the past. Thank you Shivam Sharma 13:11, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

Accept reason:

I think as blocking admin this is a clear retraction. Black Kite (talk) 13:26, 26 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. When you recently edited Abhay Kumar, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page ANI (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

This is an automated message from MadmanBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/India Is, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.kanyetothe.com/forum/index.php?topic=48927.0.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) Orphaned non-free media (File:ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit 2012 Logo.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit 2012 Logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:03, 22 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:INS Sudarshini Off Indian Coast with Sails On.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:INS Sudarshini Off Indian Coast with Sails On.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that this media item is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media item could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media item is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the file discussion page, write the reason why this media item is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fut.Perf. 07:01, 24 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
