Help with my article draft

[edit]

I need help with my draft; my draft has been rejected and I don't understand what specifically about it isn't working.--Srosenbaum1234 (talk) 20:21, 5 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The reviewer- to put in another way- is saying that Rebecca Holcombe does not meet the special Wikipedia definition of a notable politician. Specifically, merely being a candidate for office does not generally merit someone an article by itself. If she is elected Governor of Vermont, she would merit an article once sworn in to office. It's possible that having been Vermont Secretary of Education might merit her an article, but you would need several independent reliable sources that discuss her in that role, which aren't in the article currently. If you haven't already, please read Your First Article. 331dot (talk) 20:27, 5 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Help with my article draft

[edit]

I can't figure out how to communicate with my reviewers for my article. I want to improve it so that it is satisfactory to them but I can't figure out how to talk to them. When I mention them on my talk page they don't respond, is there a different way I'm supposed to be doing this? If so, how do I continue through this process? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Srosenbaum1234 (talkcontribs) 19:17, 7 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see anywhere on this page where you attempted to contact a reviewer(aside from your past help me tag that I replied to above) On your draft, in each declined notice, is the name of the reviewer plus a link to their user talk page, which you can use to ask them questions directly. 331dot (talk) 19:51, 7 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Is there something specific that you don't understand about what I said above, or the other messages on this page? I am following this page, so you may reply here. 331dot (talk) 19:53, 7 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
In addition, you seem to be getting the wrong message from your reviewers. They are telling you that your subject appears to not meet Wikipedia's WP:notability requirements and no amount of editing can overcome that.
Another way to get another editor's attention is to use a {{ping}} template. This works on your talk page, on any other talk page (but there's no need for it if you're writing on the addressee's talk page), and in various project discussion pages. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 19:58, 7 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
...but you need to sign your posts with four tildes ~~~~ in order for a ping to work(you should sign your posts anyway). 331dot (talk) 20:01, 7 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
To notify other users, you have to add the {{reply to|username}} template code and your signature in the same edit. If you have to repair the template in a subsequent edit, the users won't get notified. Thus neither Dan arndt nor Robert McClenon are likely to have seen your messages at Draft talk:Rebecca Holcombe. I have pinged them now; maybe one or the other will reply. In general, I'd recommend the AfC help desk over asking an individual reviewer. I'd also recommend that you address the conflict of interest question that Robert McClenon asked. Huon (talk) 22:00, 7 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, User:Huon and User:331dot. User:Srosenbaum1234 - First, please answer my question about whether you are affiliated with Holcombe, whether with her campaign or in any other way. If you have any association with Holcombe, you must declare your affiliation. Second, portions of the draft read as if they were written to advance her candidacy for Governor. This is how they should be written for her campaign, but not for Wikipedia, which takes a neutral point of view. So the tone needs to be reviewed. Third, to satisfy general notability guidelines, you should show significant coverage of her by non-local reliable sources. The New York Times or Chicago Tribune, for instance, are non-local reliable sources. Robert McClenon (talk) 23:17, 7 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

{{reply to|Robert McClenon}} I am not affiliated with Holcombe; but thank you, I think I understand what I need to improve now.--Srosenbaum1234 (talk) 03:58, 8 April 2020 (UTC) @Robert McClenon: I am not affiliated with Holcombe; but thank you, I think I understand what I need to improve now.--Srosenbaum1234 (talk) 15:22, 8 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Rebecca Holcombe (politician), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Notice

The article Rebecca Holcombe (politician) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

G11 turned down, but this reads like a campaign brochure

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
