Altering How I See My Signature

[edit]

I followed the guidelines (or did I?) on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Signatures#Customizing_how_everyone_sees_your_signature and customized my signature (how I see it), but on saving the CSS page, I was met with a note that said my recent alteration could compromise my account. This is beyond my comprehension as I am not fluent in technical lingo. So, please assist me. Thank you.

You mean this warning?
Code that you insert on this page could contain malicious content capable of compromising your account. If you are unsure whether code you are adding to this page is safe, you can ask at the appropriate village pump. The code will be executed when previewing this page.
CSS is powerful, and if you add random CSS code you don't know and don't understand, it could indeed have unexpected side effects, apparently including compromising the account. The code you added seems simple enough, though I wonder whether you didn't also customize how others view your signature, and if so, whether that doesn't take precedence over the CSS. I'm not an expert, but I believe that code is meant to modify how links to User:SusannaCorreya look to you, but for all I can tell, you modified your preferences so that your signature no longer contains such a link (which it should, by the way; see WP:SIGLINK). A tag has been placed on File:NagleBlockPerambur.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. By default all photos are copyrighted, and a dedicated copyright tag is not required. Publishing an image is not the same as releasing it into the public domain; the school or the photographer would need to explicitly waive their rights in the image. I see no indication that they have done so; thus Wikipedia cannot use that image. Huon (talk) 10:16, 16 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Image Uploading Criteria

[edit]

I recently created a page for my school and have taken down one of two images that were flagged for copyright infringement. Hence, I would like to know if it is acceptable if I take a picture with my own camera of the school and certain amenities. Susanna Correya 12:19, 17 May 2015 (UTC)

Yes, if you take a picture yourself then it will not be flagged for copyright infringement (since you will own the copyright). Primefac (talk) 12:27, 17 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Purpose of the Sandbox

[edit]

From my understanding, the Sandbox is meant for rough drafts, trials and practice. Considering all that I have said, I used my sandbox and tried my hand at an infobox (Type: Personal information). The same was deleted. I am not saying that I disrespect this deletion, but I do not seem to understand why it was done all the same. Also, I did not submit the practice sample for draft reviewing or furnish any inappropriate details in it.

Also, what is worthy of being in the sandbox? Kindly clarify.

Susanna Correya 19:43, 19 May 2015 (UTC)

You should contact the admin who deleted your sandbox, User:DragonflySixtyseven, for clarification on why it was deleted. --Nick—Contact/Contribs 19:52, 19 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Instead of the template you used, try Template:Infobox user, or maybe Template:Infobox person. The one you used is not really appropriate. Howicus (Did I mess up?) 19:57, 19 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited St. Theresa's Girls' Higher Secondary School, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages English and Tamil. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Proposed deletion of Lauren Boles

[edit]

The article Lauren Boles has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article on child actress that does not pass WP:NACTOR, contains no secondary sourcing, and which reads as vaguely promotional.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. --IJBall (contribstalk) 16:00, 14 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:09, 7 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
