Adding joke awards to articles

Oh I sure am disrupting wikipedia by posting something that he was awarded. So at what point does an award become legitimate or a joke or do you just get to decide arbitrarily? If so how can I trust this site when it comes to bigger and actual more important articles than just a pencil award post on someone’s accolades. I’m sure you have a much much more eloquent and better articulated response awaiting me or you’ll ignore this. But I’ll wait for your response.
