Welcome!

Hello, Thisisthebestusername!, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, like Lists of students at First Flight High School, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines for page creation, and may soon be deleted.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on this page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Mr. Vernon (talk) 00:34, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and the page that you created has been or soon will be deleted. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Mr. Vernon (talk) 00:34, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article was deleted before I knew anything was wrong with it!

Please see WP:PEOPLE for what makes a person notable. People attending a school is not notable. Clubmarx (talk) 17:07, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Lists of notable students at First Flight High School, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing no content to the reader. Please note that external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article don't count as content. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Notability

[edit]

I notice you recreated an article which was a list of "notable students at First Flight High School" although it had only just been deleted, and it has been tagged for deletion again. Please take a look at Wikipedia's criteria for notability before making any more edits of this type. Individuals are not notable on Wikipedia unless they satisfy these criteria, so a list of current students at a high school will almost certainly be a list of non-notable individuals. Such a list does not merit a separate article and will be tagged for deletion, and persistent re-creation of deleted material could lead to a block or a ban. If the school does have any current students or alumni who are notable in their own right, they should be mentioned within the school's own article, First Flight High School. This article is currently tagged for improvement, and would benefit from constructive edits. Karenjc 17:09, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Username

[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia!

I hope that I don't seem unfriendly or make you feel unwelcome, but I noticed your username, and I am concerned that it might not meet Wikipedia's username policy for the following reason: Name is an school/org name. After you look over that policy, could we discuss that concern here?

I'd appreciate learning your views, for instance, your reasons for wanting this particular name, and what alternative username you might accept that avoids raising this concern.

There are several options available to you:

  • We can talk about it, here.
  • You can abandon the contributions made under this name and create a new account that meets our username policy and addresses the concern(s) noted above.
  • Or, if you want to keep your contributions history under a new name, then you should visit Wikipedia:Changing username and follow the instructions there.

If we can't resolve this on our own, we can ask for help through Wikipedia's dispute resolution process, such as requesting comments from other Wikipedians. Wikipedia administrators usually abide by agreements reached through this process. Your username should represent you, not a group. Please see WP:ORGNAME. Thank you. Welcome to Wikipedia. The recent edit you made to the page First Flight High School has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, please ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thank you. Please refrain from making test edits in Wikipedia pages, even if you intend to fix them later. Such edits appear to be vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment again, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Magog the Ogre (talk) 01:15, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This account, Thisisthebestusername!, has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia, because your username does not meet our username policy.

Names should not be offensive, disruptive, promotional, misleading, or related to a "real-world" group or organization. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.

Please choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines. However, do not create a new account if you wish to credit your existing contributions to a new name through a username change. To request a username change:

  1. Add {{unblock-un|your new username here}} below. You should be able to edit this talk page even though you are blocked. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a list of names that have already been taken. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you feel that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. Mifter (talk) 01:58, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

{{unblock-un|Daniel Barth}}

I would assume that's your real name. Often, editors find that they don't wish to use their real names on-wiki, as it makes it easier for some of the internet's more unsavory characters to find you in real life. Are you sure this is the username you want? lifebaka++ 04:52, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've unblocked you. Please put in your username change request at Wikipedia:Changing username; feel free to use Daniel Barth (talk · contribs) or another username, if you decide to heed Lifebaka's warning about using your real-life name. Mangojuicetalk 06:41, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I can not change my username because it says that my IP adress is blocked.
You'll need to tell us your IP address, then. We don't have access to the information, and don't know which block you're falling under. There should be a template automagically generated for you when you try editing, if you could post that it would help a lot. Cheers. lifebaka++ 17:53, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Now I am not blocked, but when I said I was blocked I was, so let me try to add a request.
It worked!

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Delete this page 1, a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. Singularity42 (talk) 00:26, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself. Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion, and make your case on the page's talk page. Thank you. If admins need to test the delete function, they can create and delete a user subpage, not the main article namespace. Zzyzx11 (talk) 00:30, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, Aren't you suppose to use this new username, because other wikipedians thought the other one was against username policy? The account should be the same, with the same password. It is just a rename so you need to login as "Thisisthebestusername!" instead of your old name. Thanks. Zzyzx11 (talk) 00:51, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
When I use User:First Flight HS it just redirects me though. I thought if i edit something under User:First Flight HS it would say User:Thisisthebestusername! in the history.

Vandalism on the sandbox

[edit]

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at WP:Sandbox, you will be blocked from editing.

Please do not make poor articles such as the one mentioned above. I redirected it until a good editor makes a better article Darren23 My Contributions 00:29, 10 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nonsense. You took a good article, erased much of it, changed much of the rest, and left it only half the size you found it. --Anthony.bradbury"talk" 19:11, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Lists of notable students at First Flight High School requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

Blocked for good

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing because your account is being used only for vandalism. If you believe this block is unjustified you may contest this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below; but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first.

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Thisisthebestusername! (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

I did not use this page only for vandalism, or at least not intentionally. I may not understand the importance of some things. Sometimes I think as long as I add something it is good. In the future please explain what I am doing wrong. Thankyou for reading this.

Decline reason:

Every warning message you received told you what you were doing wrong. You removed tags and re-created deleted articles, and you had been told not to. If you were not able to understand these warnings then clearly wikipedia is not going to suit you. --Anthony.bradbury"talk" 19:14, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Thisisthebestusername! (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

I messed up, but please give me another chance. I will show you how good I can be if you unblock me. If I mess up again ,first sufficiently warn me, then block me, but for goodness sake, please do not make it infinite. I find it hard to argue that my edits were vandalism.

Decline reason:

You didn't 'mess up.' 'Mess up' implies that a person made a mistake. You were clearly informed of the rules, and broke them on purpose. You have already had a second chance- it was the warning to stop you received. In fact, you've had many second chances. You just didn't use your second chances wisely, and now a block is necessary. Since the block was appropriate, and there's no evidence that you are interested in making the encyclopedia better or able to do so, I don't think you'll be likely to find any administrator who will undo this block. Request reason:

I am a teenager. I think whoever is reading this and I both agree that it is obvious I shold be unblocked. Unfourtunatly, I do not know how to ask. Can you help me? I am worried they will stop me from appealing blocks. I have never appealed a block before today.

Why am I not allowed to unblock myself?

Decline reason:

Being a teenager is not a valid license to vandalise. The very fact that you appear unable to recognise that your edits were vandalism is a decisive reason not to unblock. --Anthony.bradbury"talk" 20:27, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oh no, I just felt like mentioning I was a teenager.

Decline reason:

No reason provided to justify unblocking. I agree with the administrators who reviewed the previous requests: you were asked to stop contributing unproductively, but you chose to ignore that request and repeated such behavior, and it does not appear you take ownership of your actions.
