Re: this

[edit]

I understand what you are saying, but I'm not sure how the warning helps you. The main point of being able to see the deletion history (when a page is deleted, the number of previous deletions comes up automatically) is to determine the length of any block, and if, presumably from choice, you're not an admin, I can't see how knowing it's the 4th deletion helps you. User contributions are available anyway, so you can see the track record of a malefactor. Forgive me if I'm being a bit dim, and I've misunderstood your comment thanks, jimfbleak 19:58, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'll put you up for admin if you like (will be later though). The problem with warnings it that they take time. At peak vandalism times, I can be deleting/protecting/blocking non-stop, and still barely stemming the tide. Pop-ups are invaluable in saving time viewing pages without opening, but that time would be lost if warnings were put on clear vandalism (I do warn in borderline/pest cases) jimfbleak 06:31, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Request for permanently banning the user Irfanhasmit

[edit]

this user is a friend of mines but he keeps vandalizing my pages and other pages. He even did a personal attack 2 times! I do not know how to prevent other people from editing my user page so please tell me if you can help protect my page.

Requesting:

  • Permanent Ban for Irfanhasmit
  • Protection on my userpage.

I've nominated you here. You need to accept and answer the questions for the process to commence. good luck, jimfbleak 15:07, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Looks good

[edit]

I agree...I was working on following these edits, as many are db's for articles that have been vandalized or should instead be afd's. Take a look: [2]. Peace, Kukini 16:42, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Take a look: [3], you say. Bleugh! I just took a look, now I'll take a proper look... Tonywalton  | Talk 16:48, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I was a bit hasty with that one. Seeing so many promotional bios one after another, one tends to get a bit cynical. I'll try to give more benefit of the doubt in future. Akihabara 17:02, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for amending the page

[edit]

Thanks for amending the page Arlington House but I must object to your accusations that I ‘over-write a pre-existing article with a new one’’ if you look at the history (May 2006) the changes had been made along time before I got there - I just updated some info and ONLY removed onelink that appeared to not relate. Thank you anyway. Chrisgo 14:33, 11 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You did tell me Please do not simply over-write a pre-existing article with a new one when I only Deleted one questionable link and added seven words! I think my language is fair so will not be 'toning down' thank you (I could say the same about you but your free to have your say and I appreciate you feedback).Chrisgo 15:02, 11 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Tony, I've shifted my stance on your RfA from 'weak oppose' to 'neutral' and have explained on the RfA page - thanks for taking the time to speak to me on my talk page ... and good luck. --User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 15:54, 11 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tony, this gets only 7 hits on Google, including the Wiki article. I think it's a spoof. See my comments on User talk:Voncrass regarding his creation of Falar. I'm going to chop it. jimfbleak 16:31, 11 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Tony,

With regards to the charming associates, it is not a spoof. They are a very popular band that are currently in the process of being signed. All you have to do is go to their myspace account to see that they are not a spoof. www.myspace.com/charmingassociates

Please will you re-instate this page as soon as possible. I have been to great lengths to research more information about them that I was in the process of adding today before it was unfairly deleted.

Regards.

There's been so much total nonsense that at first I thought that page was too. After the guy kept putting it up, and was adding to it, I googled it and found that same ref. you cited, and apologized to the page creator. It is very poorly done, though, as you said. Thanks for the link! I have made a comment, suggesting a rew name for the article of something besides "The ipswich ripper", as well as the need for the article to be improved. Also, I will watch this to learn about AfD. Aleta 20:46, 11 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hope? You've been here since 2005, you're a newpage patroller, and you still have hope? :p

I suppose the only thing we can do is to keep hoping that eventually, some n00b will read WP:INTRO and become a newbie instead of a 'k3w1 d00d'. It already has a link on the page creation form, so you never know. — BrotherFlounder (aka DiegoTehMexican) 22:25, 11 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well done on getting 100% support in your RfA! You must be really pleased with that result. I'm sure that a Bureaucrat will be along shortly in order to issue you with a shiny new set of admin tools. If you have any questions about using them then please ask. Have a pint for me when you go off to the pub to celebrate this one! You're a sysop!

[edit]
Hi, Tonywalton/Dec-2006, Congratulations on Becoming a Sysop!

Hey there. I'm pleased to let you know that, consensus being reached, you are now an administrator! You've volunteered to do housekeeping duties that normal users sadly cannot participate in. Sysops can't do a lot of stuff: They can't delete pages just like that (except patent nonsense like "aojt9085yu8;3ou"), and they can't protect pages in an edit war they are involved in. But they can delete random junk, ban anonymous vandals, delete pages listed on articles for deletion (provided there's a consensus) for more than one week, protect pages when asked to, and keep the few protected pages that exist on Wikipedia up to date.

Almost anything you can do can be undone, but please take a look at The Administrators' how-to guide and the Administrators' reading list before you get started (although you should have read that during your candidacy ;). Take a look before experimenting with your powers. Also, please add Administrators' noticeboard to your watchlist, as there are always discussions/requests for admins there. If you have any questions drop me a message at My talk page. Have fun! =Nichalp «Talk»=
PS Please add you name to WP:LA!

{{hangon}}

A topic is notable if it has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial published works whose sources are independent of the subject itself.

Annie Mae Mitcham is very well known Throughout Central GA as an educator for the under privileged. She has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial published works whose sources are independent of her which qualifies for inclusion according to the rules.

There are several entries in this media that are far less notable and news worthy than this subject.

Annie Mae Leonard Mitcham

These are articles that were featured in the newspaper that serves all of Central Georgia:

Annie Mae Leonard Mitcham

Macon Telegraph - May 12, 2006 - B

Ready place in the motherhood hall of fame If they ever build a motherhood hall of fame - a Cooperstown of hugs, rocking chairs and sweet potato pie - then Annie Mae Mitcham gets my vote on the first ballot. She raised 11 children, 10 of her own and a nephew she adopted. Nine of her kids earned their college degrees, and one son served his country with a career in the Air Force. For years, Annie Mae washed other people's clothes and cleaned other people's houses to help put biscuits on her own table. After...

To Me he was 'LE GOD' What a player even if it was only for six months, sublime skill, touch and knew exactly where the goal was.

Those six months i must admit were probably the most enjoyable six months watchin the blues for the past ten years easily.

How many time have we in the past gone behind but actually come back playing FOOTBALL and not just lump it forward and hope.

Thanks for the six months and raising the clubs profile LE GOD.

Wikipedia color articles

[edit]

I was wondering--Wikipedia is based on open software, isn't it? Remember when we both wrote the article on the color Old Lace? I also told you that I had written a number of other color articles for Wikipedia. What is the name of the software that Wikipedia uses to make the color box formula on the editing page display as a color box in the article? Is there a place on Wikipedia where I can download this software onto my own computer? Thank you and looking forward to hearing from you. Best wishes, Keraunos 23:40, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

When I Saw Chili's had a page, I thought Leatherby's should get one too

[edit]

I thought if Chili's deserved a page, so did Leatherby's. I would love to say how great the place is more explicitly but didn't think that would be neutral. I will go looking back at why Chili's get a page and not Leatherby's, the #1 rule is BE BOLD so I will go see which lesser rule I have violated.

I'm new here, so I just wanted your opinion on something. [edit]

Please tell me that you, an administator, don't use Alexa as a traffic guide! I'm optimistic that you realize Alexa only ranks sites by users using the Alexa toolbar. It's also called demographics... gamers do not use the Alexa toolbar not to mention that using Alexa to gauge traffic, though a good idea, went the way of the do-do a couple of years ago! weathermen "fake" rap group

[edit]

While this page has been deleted before, it is NOT a hoax. This is a comedy trio from Chicago's Second City. The page in question is the back story of the characters created by the three. There is verifiable proof/evidence the group exists toward the bottom labeled "The Weathermen Tapes". It is a direct link to a few of the groups comedy clips. They also have a Myspace account at www.myspace.com/the_weathermen

I assure you it is not a hoax and it is not fake. I hope this straightens things out. Having to repost is a bitch. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 1000zorses (talkcontribs) 20:06, 29 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]
