[edit]

Good to see you back. Can you check my CVUA ASAP? Thanks. I notified you, but it was auto-archived. Thanks, NF. WorldTraveller101BreaksFixes 02:25, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Done grading and I posted the username unit nerdfighter 15:30, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Lots of little things happening while you were gone... WT101 applied for reviewer, got rollbacker instead, got sucked into that toxic AN and had rollbacker taken back away. I was accused of being a sockmaster of Miss Bono and then WT101 although I'm not sure he was ever notified and it was almost instantly dismissed.. Anyways, I'm in bed and typing on this phone sucks. details tomorrow. Technical 13 (talk) 03:02, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Who accused you of being a sockmaster? I'll check out WT's user rights situation. nerdfighter 15:30, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
@Connor: You really have lots of things that you need to prove as well as improve if you want the community to trust you...
Arctic Kangaroo () 06:08, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
T13, I actually requested for me to lose rollback, since there was clear, fair consensus that I wasn't ready yet. Man, AN and ANI can suck sometimes. , AK I'm working on it. Thanks and welcome back, NF. WorldTraveller101BreaksFixes 10:42, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I know you did WT101. You actually didn't ask for rollbacker in the first place this time. Anyways, after OMS accused me of being a SOCKmaster of Miss Bono and then WT101, I decided it would be best to IDENTify myself and that is done now. I was going to wait a little longer and do it just before I put in for account creator rights (as part of a project I'm doing at school where I'm trying to get a group of individuals interested in improving enwiki which is part of the reason I wanted to do CVUA as well). @WT101, I know that we are in the same TZ, I'm in Maine, how far south of me are you? Just curious and won't be offended if you decline to answer or prefer to answer via email. :) NF, I'm going to see if I can finish up those scenario's today. I want to get this project done, so I can check it off my todo list. :) Technical 13 (talk) 11:50, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Can I have a link to where you were accused of being a sockmaster? Cheers, nerdfighter 15:40, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) Don't worry about it Nerdfighter... LOL on Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Technical_13 by OneMadScientist. Reaper_Eternal quickly extinguished it as a "Completely baseless SPI". I'm ready for you to go through my scenes when you have a moment as well... Technical 13 (talk) 15:47, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, good . I'm just suprised because OMS usually has more circumspect. Okay I'll check out your CVUA nerdfighter 18:03, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Possible Adminship

[edit]

Hello! I am andrewrp, and I would like to get active editing Wikipedia again. Currently, as well as in the past, I have done article anti-vandalism work, as well as CFD's using NPwatcher. I have taken a brief hiatus from Wikipedia to work on other projects, but would like to start working again. In addition to my anti-vandalism, I would also like to get more involved on actually editing and improving articles, as I see this issue as a sort of weak point for me. My reasons for desiring administratorship are numerous. In my brief time I have been back here (though I occasionally monitored), there seems to be large backlogs in AIV, Speedy Deletion, as well as page protection. I have a pretty flexible schedule right now that would allow me to clear these backlogs when they become a problem. There also seems to be (not sure if this is the product of when I visit), a larger amount of vandalism then there was a while back. I realize I most likely am not ready for an administratorship yet. When I was getting started, I think I took my important position as a rollbacker and anti-vandalism watcher too lightly. I do feel, as well, I had not taken the time to thoroughly familiarize myself with various Wikipedia policies. As a result, I have gotten myself into various uncomfortable and very bad situations, which I feel could possibly jeopardize my candidacy. I would like to ask you if it would be possible to review my account and provide me with steps I may take as I return to editing that would help me not only become an administrator, but also help the Wikipedia community as a whole. Thank you, and all the best, Andrew AndrewrpTally-ho! 03:04, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't gotten is as big of a mess, but could you do the same for me? -- Thus Spake Lee Tru. 13:28, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Andrew, just looking at your talk page, you seem to be having trouble with copyvios, so I suggest you get wp:adopted. I know that Go Phightins! has a good adoption program that deals with copyrights. As of right now, I think you also need to review WP:AGF before you run for adminship. To gain the trust of the community you will have to show us that you will make use of your admin rights, so get a bit more involved in WP:AIV, WP:ANI, etc. At the moment I don't think that you will have a successful nomination, but maybe once you have done the things I have listed above, you might nerdfighter 15:06, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Awarded to those who manage the public part of the Wikipedia Teahouse.

The maître d' acts as a community organizer and a moderator who helps to make sure that all aspects of the Teahouse are running smoothly, and that guests have a good experience. The maître d' is not the boss of Teahouse, but acts as a responsible facilitator for the project.

I noticed that you did not give yourslf this badge (you can) so I thought I would give you it

Thanks Lee Even though I'm not Maitre d at the moment. nerdfighter 21:14, 17 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I know that, but you were. By the way, can you please explain how to sign up to be Maitre d? I tried to look at the calender, and it is too confusing. -- Lee Tru. 13:06, 18 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure you are quite ready for Teahouse maître d' just yet Lee to be honest. I don't even consider myself quite ready for it, if that offers you any indication of the amount of "readiness" needed. I suggest you get a few of the other badges stacked up first. WP:BADGE apparently isn't the page I was thinking of that lists the requirements... So, I dug through a little and the page I meant to show you is Wikipedia:Teahouse/Badge. Look through the badges as each one explains what needs to be done to earn it. I'll admit that some of them aren't completely clear, and I wouldn't mind specific questions about specific badges if need be. Good luck! Technical 13 (talk) 13:18, 18 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I have reverted your edits here - any editor is free to remove content from their own talk pages. You should not revert them, and you certainly shouldn't warn them for it. Regards, GiantSnowman 14:58, 20 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, I thought there was consensus against letting users remove warnings from their talk pages . Anyway, thanks for the heads up! nerdfighter 15:02, 20 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No, just declined unblock requests / speedies, see WP:OWNTALK for more info. GiantSnowman 15:40, 20 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Submit an article?

[edit]

Your interest in science and technology attracted me. I wrote the article at execware.com/cdm.pdf but then realized two things. One, I have a vested interest, being the inventor in the referenced patent. Two, turning 90 in 3 months I find the submitting process too much to handle. I have a small list of cognitive scientists, and others, I want to critique it. Perhaps ypu can suggest some also. Email is best for me: rlistou@execware.com Rlistou (talk) 18:06, 24 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Rlistou, thanks for the message. Although I am interested in science and technology, I should tell you that I am in high school and therefor don't have the experience you likely want the peer reviewers of your article to have. You might be able to find experts in your field at WikiProject Science. Unfortunately the submission process is rather tedious, and can take a long time if you use WP:AFC. However if you make sure you follow the guidelines laid out at WikiProject Science/Guidelines and Wikiproject Neuroscience, your article may be accepted after one submission. At the present I don't think that your article, however good it may be as a paper, is suitable for Wikipedia. I agree with the suggestions Anne Delong told you. Feel free to come back for anything else, or ask your questions at the Teahouse or on #Wikipedia-en-help connect live chat. Thanks, nerdfighter 03:30, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Talk page stalkers, please add more information if I missed anything. nerdfighter 03:30, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Advice?

[edit]

Hi, Nerdfighter. This IP has made the same change to various airport articles, which is that Garuda Indonesia serves these airports, when really it is not operated by that airline. What should I tell the IP or should I just quietly revert (although I still probably have 10 to revert)? If not, what warning/notice is appropriate? WorldTraveller101BreaksFixes 12:55, 26 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hey WorldTraveller101, welcome back :) Since this is more of a content dispute rather than clear cut vandalism, I would normally suggest using the Bold, revert, discuss cycle. However, since the Ip in question has made so many of those edits, I would open a thread on his page asking about his edits. Request a third opinion if you can't reach consensus. Thanks, nerdfighter 13:29, 26 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Looking at the source again, the IP probably didn't notice what the tiny numbers meant. I'll explain at his/her talk page. WorldTraveller101BreaksFixes 17:00, 26 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
