Welcome!

[edit]

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia:

Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia:

The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! I would like to say that the introduction to editing is very convoluted, and a poor reference, perhaps it is something that 99% or more are instructed by an editor or through YouTube? For example, I find it's easier to amend a page and add information, cull links or change them to a more reliable source ... but, for example, trying to find how to include a web link in a new page took over an hour of fruitless searching.

My suggestion is this, have a page, that illustrates the core principles (not the tenets) of making pages, and including this in the "get started guide", there is too much superfluous details, that distract from learning how to make your first page.

I could go into further detail, but, I'm sure these are almost universal problems encountered, for the first time editor, who rely solely on Wikipedia, rather than external guides.

Thank you for your communication, I hope you have a nice day. Victorianchan (talk) 12:56, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm ZimZalaBim. I wanted to let you know that one or more external links you added to List of awareness ribbons have been removed because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. Attribution for public domain material

[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions. It seems that you may have added public domain content to one or more Wikipedia articles, such as 2022 monkeypox outbreak in the United States. You are welcome to import appropriate public domain content to articles, but in order to meet the Wikipedia guideline on plagiarism, such content must be fully attributed. This requires not only acknowledging the source, but acknowledging that the source is copied. There are several methods to do this described at Wikipedia:Plagiarism#Public-domain sources, including the usage of an attribution template. Please make sure that any public domain content you have already imported is fully attributed. Thank you. DanCherek (talk) 22:21, 6 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Block evasion

[edit]
Stop icon
You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for abuse of editing privileges.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

It's pretty clear that you are the same individual avoiding blocks to these ranges for chronic issues. Whereas before you attracted attention due to your decidedly non-encyclopedic writing style, it looks like you've solved that problem by copying wholesale large blocks of text from copyrighted and public domain sources, including [1],([2] from [3]),[4] from the CDC, etc. In any case, you're blocked again. OhNoitsJamie Talk 03:57, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Where did I say that I didn't quote? I followed the same guidelines that are on every, or almost all Wikipedia pages.

You see at the bottom of pages where it begins on their history with "this page was made by a computer program" to give copyright to Wikipedia? That's the same advice I'm following.

I've added meaningful additions, I've followed advice like find a random page and and improve it, I've added to important articles, I do it by hand, I'm not someone that their average edit isn't meaningful.

I can find countless "unecyclopaedic" articles, do they get removed? Do they authors get banned? To the editors get warnings? Nope, nope, nope.

My addition to Monkeypox doesn't make me look like an antivaxxer. I'm following the Wikipedia guidelines, can you show me even one single edit where you do? Victorianchan (talk) 04:26, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

That's someone dude / dudette.

I don't live in South Australia, I live in Victoria, they are many many miles away.

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I don't live in that part of the continent, Distance between Adelaide and Melbourne is 406 miles. Driving distance from Adelaide to Melbourne is 452 miles, and I don't travel that far Victorianchan (talk) 04:49, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

IP geolocation data varies widely based on the ISP used. You need to address the crux of the block (i.e. behavioural similarities) rather than relying on unreliable IP data. Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 16:35, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

You're terribly inconsistent for your reasoning.

Maybe take a step back, realise you've accused me of falsehood, and then you'll see you look really silly, you'll unblock me, and you can get on with your duties, or whatever makes you a happy person.

Wouldn't that be nice?

(1) Geolocation if IP addresses are of limited utility. I edit from IPs that geolocate to cities hundreds of miles away. (2) Regardless of copyright status, it's rarely appropriate to copy/paste large blocks of text into Wikipedia; in the rare cases where it may be appropriate, it needs to be clearly attributed; a simple ref isn't enough. You were already warned about that. (3) It's even more obvious now from the above screed that you are the same person targeted by the previous rangeblocks. User:0mtwb9gd5wx bans me for being a sock puppet of user:quisqualis but doesn't ban user:quisqualis. Victorianchan (talk) 16:40, 14 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Just going to add, that none of the administration putting this ban in place, or the review have followed policy.

[edit]

Sad to see vandals add obscenities and hate speech to Wikipedia, but me editing useful links to monkeypox page gets me banned, even though it's clear I haven't been a sock puppet twice, they let the other person keep their account, when they accused them of being me!

Monkeypox has now affected tens of thousands of people, it is increasing at an alarming rate, and unfortunately will spread to children, the elderly, and pregnant women.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_INFEKTION

Operation INFEKTION was an active measure disinformation campaign run by the KGB in the 1980s to plant the idea that the United States had invented HIV/AIDS as part of a biological weapons research project at Fort Detrick, Maryland.

Reports surfacing during the US backed Ukrainian resistance of Russian military activites (whether you think they are legitimate or not, is not really an encyclopaedias forte) has again spread rumours that monkeypox with 40 mutations can only have been created in a bioweapons laboratory.

I have the right to correct mistakes, and add medical information, we all need to help the less fortunate.

You shouldn't be using your political power to abuse Wikipedia, and harm 350 million Americans, their children and families, just because you are sneaky. It's no different than you shooting at them with a machine gun, your actions hurt innocent people.

Revert my editing privileges, so I can add facts to the monkeypox page, without being called a plagiarist!!! Victorianchan (talk) 10:54, 16 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
