Helpme request

[edit]

How can I give templates a right alignment (move them to the right side)? I tried using the method for images, but it didn't work.

The images are a bit of a special case; it's tricky to answer this question, because it depends in part on what template you're using. If it really comes down to it, you can always get by using either a div tag or wiki table with right-align to get the template over there. If you needed more specific help, it'd help if I could know which template, and possibly at which page. :) Luna Santin 23:43, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks!

[edit]

That was fast! I expected to wait a lot longer. Thanks for the help! -- VGF11 23:48, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I can't figure out how to use the "div" in Wikipedia, though I do using HTML. -- VGF11 00:02, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Help

[edit]

How do I suggest that an article be added to a project? I tried doing this on the project's talk page, but the suggestion has been ignored for several days. Also, how would I right-align the templates on my user page? -- VGF11 01:43, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

By your username, I'm guessing that you want to add an article to Wikipedia:WikiProject Computer and video games, yes? I believe there's a template you can add to the talk page that automatically includes it. However, this does not mean that it people will then work on it. Could you link me to the article in question? My guess is that, if you feel it's a worthy enough candidate, you could suggest it become a collaboration-of-the-month deal, where users all agree to pitch in and work on a single article. But without the specifics, I can't say.
The easiest way to align your userboxes on the right side of your user page would be to create a box for them. You can copy this template and put your userboxes in them:
{{userboxtop
| align = right
}}
[userboxes go here]
{{userboxbottom}}
Hope that helps! -- Merope Talk 02:10, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! That did help. The pages I'm trying to add to Wikipedia:WikiProject Texas are Spelling and Vocabulary and Social Studies (UIL test). -- VGF11 02:47, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You can add {{WikiProject Texas}} to the top of those article's talk pages. -- Merope Talk 04:39, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. That solves my problems. -- VGF11 01:32, 4 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Another help request

[edit]

Can I freely edit a template? I tried asking someone to edit it on the talk page, but this has been ignored for about a month.

Go for it! Just discuss the edits you've made on the talk page. In the future, if you want to put your {{helpme}} tags on the bottom of your talk page, it makes things easier on other editors. -- Merope Talk 04:04, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
As an addendum: be sure to preview your edits to the template to make sure there aren't any weird side-effects. If you have problems with it, let me know on my talk page or add another {{helpme}} tag to your talk page. But since you just want to add some more links to the template, you should be fine. Good luck! -- Merope Talk 04:09, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I guess that "be bold" applies to almost everything on Wikipedia. Thanks again. -- VGF11 03:17, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I read your message in that discussion page, and I will give you advice. To propose a split, add {{splitsection}} into the top of the section entry-- but below the section title. Isn't that simple? --Gh87 04:22, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds very simple. Thanks. -- VGF11 04:24, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Help with Talk pages

[edit]

{{helpme}} I suggested splitting Wheel of Fortune on its talk page under a section titled, "History of W.o.F." Later, Gh87 showed me the split tags, so I added one to the page. However, no one really seems to comment on the split. Can I edit this to say "Split to History of W.o.F." so that more people notice it?-- VGF11 01:28, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Removed Irrelevant message Deon555talkReview 01:43, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Reasonable edits to section headers are perfectly fine; the only downside is they confuse someone if they linked directly to the section, but if there is some good reason for it, go for it. Regarding this specific proposal, I do think a split is warranted. —Centrxtalk • 01:35, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. (I'm still amazed at how fast questions are answered here.) -- VGF11 01:41, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, that should read: I do not think a split is warranted. —Centrxtalk • 01:46, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

History of the Federal Constitution

[edit]

I have reread the articel and can't justify labeling it as having an inappropraite tone, so I have removed the template. 68.39.174.238 01:27, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay. Thanks. -- VGF11 02:55, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've replied to your query, but like everything in Wikipedia it's just one persons opinion.
The reply was supposed to have been part of the other reply but somehow got lost during copy & paste. - X201 14:09, 11 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I have one question, though: why isn't their a clear consensus for this on the grading scale page? -- VGF11 21:39, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bicameral Legislatures

[edit]

The bit about PA having a bicameral legislature is something I have read in more than one place. I remember it from my high school American history book. I remember it from the Harper's article "Abolish the Senate." I am 100% sure that the statement is correct. (VT set up a quasi-bicameral legislature a few yrs later. Nebraska has had one since the 1930s)Dinopup 15:36, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ok. Go ahead and change that in the article. The statement I removed, however, said that the controversy was not between small and large states, but rather between states with Western land claims and those without. Can you verify this? -- VGF11 02:47, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, the statement was only recently given the [citation needed] template. Still, it is a major claim that needs verification. -- VGF11 00:01, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Social Studies (UIL test)

[edit]

Your article, Social Studies (UIL test), should have the authors for the featured books. Other than that, keep up the good work! Thanks for editing my sentence on Mario Kart: Double Dash!!. • s d 3 1 4 1 5 talkNovember 19, 2006.

I added David McCullough but I do not know the author of "Citizen Soldiers" (which does not have an article on Wikipedia - if you know a lot about this book, you may want to create it). • s d 3 1 4 1 5 talkNovember 19, 2006.
Thanks! I'll try to find the author's name later, but I don't know enough about the book to make an article on it. -- VGF11 17:21, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I found the author of "Citizen Soldiers": Stephen Ambrose. • s d 3 1 4 1 5 talkNovember 19, 2006.
Ok. Thanks. -- VGF11 21:21, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

For revoking unsourced crap, that was likely pushing an agenda, from the articel on the history of the Federal Constitution. 68.39.174.238 19:50, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! The only thing is that I forgot to remove it after pasting it on the talk page...so if you want to revoke the barnstar, go ahead. -- VGF11 00:17, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for reminding me to remove the unsourced statement, by the way. -- VGF11 00:19, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The article Candy Crisis has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Long unreferenced article of non-notable game covered only in primary sources

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Sadads (talk) 01:24, 10 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I have decided to put on a mini-contest within the November 2013 monthly disambiguation contest, on Saturday, November 23 (UTC). I will personally give a $20 Amazon.com gift card to the disambiguator who fixes the most links on that server-day (see the project page for details on scoring points). Since we are not geared up to do an automated count for that day, at 00:00, 23 November 2013 (UTC) (which is 7:00 PM on November 22, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the project page leaderboard. I will presume that anyone who is not already listed on the leaderboard has precisely nine edits. At 01:00, 24 November 2013 (UTC) (8:00 PM on November 23, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the leaderboard at that time (the extra hour is to give the board time to update), and I will determine from that who our winner is. I will credit links fixed by turning a WP:DABCONCEPT page into an article, but you'll have to let me know me that you did so. Here's to a fun contest. Note that according to the Daily Disambig, we currently have under 256,000 disambiguation links to be fixed. If everyone in the disambiguation link fixers category were to fix 500 links, we would have them all done - so aim high! Cheers! bd2412 T 02:09, 18 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
