Orphaned non-free media (Image:Brayford mhac.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Brayford mhac.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:32, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source/license for Image:Lincoln Logo BW.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Lincoln Logo BW.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

University of Lincoln

[edit]

Hi there. I've reverted you over at University of Lincoln. I appreciate that you're working hard on improving the article; however:

  • Template:Infobox University is a standard which has achieved broad consensus across the encyclopedia, and is in use on all articles about British universities and most others across the world. Designing a separate box means that the article on Lincoln would not benefit from changes and innovations made to the Infobox template in the future. It's also worth bearing in mind that it's impossible to control precisely how our articles will display on all browsers and platforms, so a hand-coded box will almost never look as 'pretty' as intended. If you think that there are improvements which can be made to the standard infobox, please help out by suggesting them at Template talk:Infobox University.
  • Hatnotes are for disambiguation purposes. For this reason, a hatnote pointing to Lincoln University is much more useful than one pointing to Lincoln, an article which is unlikely to be confused with University of Lincoln.
  • Section headings, dates and external links should meet the relevant Manual of Style guidelines.

For these reasons I have reverted you. You may also wish to make sure that the text of the article meets the relevant standards, particularly neutral point of view and appropriate tone. — mholland (talk) 09:45, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

April 2010

[edit]

Please do not continue to re-add material to University of Lincoln against consensus. If you disagree with the consensus which has been reached on [[Talk:University of Lincoln|the article's talk page then please discuss the matter there: do not just ignore the discussion and act unilaterally. You should come hang out with us on the internetz!

[edit]

Hi! I wanted to let you know that we have created an IRC channel for "countering systemic bias one new editor at a time", aka closing the gender gap! Come hang out at #wikimedia-gendergap if that subject interests you. We hope this channel can serve as a safe haven to hang out, talk about Wiki, brainstorming, increasing women's participation in Wikimedia, article alerts and foster friendships. I hope you join us! (And if you need any IRC help, just let me know!) See you there! SarahStierch (talk) 22:33, 21 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
