Glitch

[edit]

Hi! Looks like there was some sort of edit conflict glitch and your edit[1] reverted a long comment from Nederlandse Leeuw (which is of interest to me because I was tagged in it). I reverted back, I hesitates because we had a little dustup at arbcon the other week so I thought it best to let you know directly what I was thinking and why I reverted your revert. Wish you the best. Horse Eye's Back (talk) 17:38, 24 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, don’t know what happened there. Thanks. Volunteer Marek 20:11, 24 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Panama Section in 'Allegation of CIA trafficking' page

[edit]

Sometime back you made this edit on the 'Allegations of CIA drug trafficking' page:[2].

There is talk of restoring that section (on-going) on that talk page....I give my thoughts there. I'd be interested to know what you think (maybe expand upon the reasons given in your edit summary)Rja13ww33 (talk) 18:17, 24 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Um... I hope my ping at WT:RFA didn't bother you. I didn't mean to remind you of what you went through but I was somewhat angry on your behalf. I didn't really know much about what Icewhiz did before I read your comment months ago and seeing FeydHuxtable write Not sure why several seem to think exceptional editors like Wifione & Icewhiz had malcious intent? Ice used to be a fellow ARS member, he was unusually gentle until he suffered severe provocation. He only sought adminship as a means to fight a certain evil. His play for adminship might have failed, but he simply kept taking things to a new level until his will proved too great for the community to resist. Much as I believe Ice was mistaken in seeing said evil as residing in certain edtiors or being tolerated by Wikipedia as a whole, one has to admire his ingenuity & determintation to achieve rightful victory (as he saw it). bothered me. I was hoping that maybe the diff I shared would be like a victim impact statement? But I also didn't want to speak on your behalf because obviously you can do so for yourself (hence the courtesy ping). But again, I didn't mean to remind you what you went through. If you don't want me to ping you about similar situations in the future, I'll respect that. Clovermoss🍀 (talk) 14:09, 13 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:22, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It was a pleasant surprise to see your mention of me when completing the editor reflection. I'm impressed that you remember my early forays into privacy protection, and am flattered that they had a positive influence on you. There is a certain irony that, having written some of this stuff more than 15 years ago, my RL name and username are practically used interchangeably within the movement, and I've presented in many public fora under my own name. Unsourced contributions

[edit]

Greetings, I'm in discussion with another editor regarding supposedly unsourced contributions to a few wiki articles, can you please help me check if those contribs are supported by sources provided. Discussions are at Talk:Belarusian nationalism#Nationalists were also opposed by the local intellectuals and User talk:RusHistorian#December 2023 , maybe suggest some forum where I can invite others to help, thanks! DYK for The Torture Camp on Paradise Street

[edit]

On 27 January 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article The Torture Camp on Paradise Street, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Stanislav Aseyev, the author of The Torture Camp on Paradise Street, was placed in the Izolyatsia torture camp for writing "Donetsk People's Republic" in quotation marks in a social media post? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/The Torture Camp on Paradise Street. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, The Torture Camp on Paradise Street), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

can be ignored if you choose. Somebody thought they'd been outed is all. Or you can opine if you like but I just thought I would try to alleviate any christ what now thoughts you might have had. I'd give it a miss if I were you, since he will argue forever, but I didn't want to talk about you behind your back even in passing. Oh speaking of, if you still care about the place we do not name there's a thread about the steward elections; your name came up there but not in a bad way about you either Elinruby (talk) 16:30, 13 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Request for amendment at WP:ARCA about World War II and the history of Jews in Poland

[edit]

Hello Volunteer Marek,

a request for amendment that affects the 1-way interaction ban with Piotrus and a 1-way interaction ban with Volunteer Marek from the World War II and the history of Jews in Poland case has been made at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Clarification and Amendment § Amendment request: World War II and the history of Jews in Poland. Your input would be welcome.

Best regards,

Threading

[edit]

This is unrelated to our back-and-forth, but it is on the same article talk page. I indented and moved your 04:57, 7 July 2024 reply to JDiala because it split their reply to themselves. I hope you don't mind. Link for review. If you revert, I won't contest it. While I'm here, I struck the DE comment and the explanation is available with my 06:15, 7 July 2024 reply. Utsa Patnaik

[edit]

Hello VolunteerMarek. I had a query about the reliability of Utsa Patnaik on the Bengal Famine of 1943 article? I ask because you fully removed her opinion from the body on June 24 because it was apparently fringe, yet another anonymous user on July 1 added a whole paragraph sourced to Patnaik to the lead about inflation even though it's not a summary of the body and with no remaining mention of Patnaik in the body. I think her view deserves some mention in the body but clearly what this anonymous user added is undue and not following Wikipedia's guidelines for the lead section. No other scholar even gets named in the lead apart from Patnaik. 185.21.22.198 (talk) 11:22, 13 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Patnaik , Monbiot and Hickel are most certainly fringe by any reasonable definition of fringe. “Comment is free” is not a reliable source. Volunteer Marek 18:49, 14 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Arbitration motions regarding My very best wishes

[edit]

The Arbitration Committee has resolved by motion that:

Remedies 5.1 and 5.2 of World War II and the history of Jews in Poland (the topic and interaction bans on My very best wishes, respectively) are repealed.

And it has resolved by another motion that:

My very best wishes' topic ban from World War II in Eastern Europe and the history of Jews in Eastern Europe, imposed under the Eastern Europe contentious topic procedures, is repealed.

For the Arbitration Committee, SilverLocust 💬 06:33, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Discuss this at: Wikipedia talk:Arbitration Committee/Noticeboard § Arbitration motions regarding My very best wishes

Arbitration amendment request archived

[edit]

The request for amendment in which those two motions were proposed has been closed and is archived at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Clarification and Amendment/Archive 128#Amendment request: World War II and the history of Jews in Poland. The repeal of remedy 5.2 means that the ban on My very best wishes interacting with you has been lifted. SilverLocust 💬 07:30, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
