Hi

[edit]

Hi Woody. I've added a welcome message above with lots of links, I hope you don't mind but you can remove it of course if you want. I feel that we aren't exactly getting on to a good start though. No one is going to stomp on you if you follow WP:CIVIL etc. If you are referring to SageMab, have you read all the talk page and the archives? He did quite a bit of stomping, for instance, on an IP editor, and despite not understanding our policy on OR, kept accusing others of not understanding it. He also wanted to use sources much worse than the New Age Magazine I pointed to (and as you can see, I agree, it wouldn't be a reliable source). I'm sure Michell wasn't a Fascist and wish we wouldn't get involved with his politics too much, but Plato was an authoritarian when it came to politics, so if Michell was a neo-Platonist it seems likely he shared some of those ideas (radical-traditionalist) suggests a time of conservatism) even if in a 'misty' sort of way. As for neo-Platonist, have you read enough Michell to know if he described himself that way? It's not enough for us to interpret his stances, we need good sources, and if we can find them I think we should add it. Doug Weller (talk) 07:30, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Doug, thanks for the welcome message. I have been following this article. I think there has been a lot of stomping on the talk page. The IP editors in question were blocked for vandalism for posting the Hitler crap and it at it again. BLP says it needs to be swiftly removed. Your words "seems likely" sounds like you might be conjecturing, I have read a ton of Michell and books pro and con about the things he writes about.WoodyMoor (talk) 13:53, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Woody, why the unpleasant edit summary? Doug Weller (talk) 14:14, 11 September 2008

(UTC)

I just found a post it note on the screen of this computer. This computer uses a web accelerator which causes multiple users to show as if they are on the same IP. I am not a sock in any way shape or form. How do you fix this? Can I use my laptop to edit? Why besmirch my name?WoodyMoor (talk) 22:03, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I am on a shared computer at a college, in a department that is very interested in philosophy, I do not know the other editors who are said to be socks but I edit in good faith . No idea this would cause problems or appear to be puppetry. I am interested in productive contributing to Wikipedia and I would like to please be considered for a removal of the block. I recently converted my IP to my name and said as much in the edit summary so that IP is not a sock either

Decline reason:

It seems improbable that you are not just editing from the same ip, but also only editing the same article. It seems more likely that you are the same person, given the contribution histories. — FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 23:01, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
