Esperanto translation of Coxhead's "Academic Word List" ?

[edit]

Is there any quality checked Esperanto translation of Averil Coxhead's 570-word Academic Word List* somewhere? (i.e. I just need a translation of the wordlist, not the whole article).

Japanese term for bowing in Judo

[edit]

In a question on the Miscellaneous Ref Desk about sporting etiquette, User:Sluzzelin linked to bowing in Judo. "Aha!" I thought, "isn't that properly called rei in Japanese?" [1] We do have a rei disambiguation page, and apparently the word has multiple meanings in Japanese, depending on which character you use, but none of the options seem to fit the meaning used in Judo. Can anybody help please? Alansplodge (talk) 16:03, 16 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Gallingly, the Germans do have an article on rei. I hate it when they do that. --Antiquary (talk) 19:39, 16 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Could a Japanese speaker confirm that the Germans have the correct ideogram in their article please? Alansplodge (talk) 17:35, 17 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
礼 is correct for the "bow" meaning. 81.132.196.237 (talk) 17:55, 17 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you both. Alansplodge (talk) 22:10, 17 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I was listening to this Northern Irishman get excited about judo yesterday. Sounds more like juh-do. Not exactly relevant to the question, but this section is the probably the most relevant place on Wikipedia for this answer. InedibleHulk (talk) 00:48, 18 January 2015 (UTC) [reply]

Arabic for French international school?

[edit]

In https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/ad/Lyc%C3%A9e_international_d%27alger_a_ben_aknoune_%28Alg%C3%A9rie%29.jpg I see an Arabic sign next to the French sign saying Lycée International Alexandre Dumas. What is the Arabic?

What is "Perutation?"

[edit]

In the Wikipedia article: Shinto Directive a part of the sentence says: "Shinto Directive ...... was issued on December 15, 1945 with the full title of Abolition of Governmental Sponsorship, Support, Perutation, Control and Dissemination of State Shinto (Kokka Shinto, Jinja Shinto)"

What is Perutation? --AboutFace 22 (talk) 19:24, 16 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The link in the article https://web.archive.org/web/20141219183832/http://nirc.nanzan-u.ac.jp/nfile/3229 says "perpetuation". --Cookatoo.ergo.ZooM (talk) 19:28, 16 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Mystery solved. Thanks, - --AboutFace 22 (talk) 20:45, 16 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
