Template:Bhutan NFT results (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

Per WP:NENAN. Only links to one article, hard to see how something so specific could be expanded. Already linked to in the national team article. Fenix down (talk) 15:25, 18 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Shootings in the United States (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

isn't this what categories are for? seriously, there was only 4 shootings in the entirety of the 19th century? the content of this template is highly indiscriminate. we have included here murders, protest riots, insurrections. the whole thing just makes no sense. Hello, I am the creator of the template that you are referring to. If I recall correctly, I believe that I set out to create the template due to the Sandy Hook incident, which the history of the page seems to suggest as well. I think that the intent was to make it easier to navigate between articles on "Notable Shooting in the US," which was the original name of the template. Considering that notability is required for an article on Wikipedia, the template was correctly moved to its present name.
Now that I have described why I believe it was created, I will point out the issue with the 19th Century. If you recall, to have an article on Wikipedia, there needs to be some type of notability for it. One way for the subject, events, or topic of the article to "become notable" is if it is discussed Nationally or Internationally in the media. If you notice how both the 2000s and 2010s sections are comparable to the 20th Century, then you will notice that as time goes on, it appears as if there are more and more events are occurring. While possible, I would point out that communication in earlier centuries was limited to today, which limited both the discussion and "notability" of these events. To put it simply, these are all shootings within the US that have reached a level of notability to be included.
For the separate issue of why there are a variety of events, such as riots and insurrections, I would assume that it is due to the fact that they involved a shooting that was notable in some way or form. If you believe that the template should be split, I would agree with you on that subject, but I have not touched the template in several months. --Super Goku V (talk) 07:18, 19 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
