Qualifications

[edit]

At least five members must each have started an article that was featured in DYK, must have contributed significantly to a good article, and must have contributed significantly to featured content.

This is a cool effort – thanks Jsayre! There are three other contributors who come to mind as having worked heavily on Good- and Featured-content over the years: Little Mountain 5 (talk · contribs), Finetooth (talk · contribs), and Northwesterner1 (talk · contribs). (The last of these three has not been active for some time, but made some truly excellent contributions in his time.) I am sure there are others, but these all warrant a look! -Pete (talk) 20:23, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Good. Now I know who to substitute if this set doesn't quite make it. Jsayre64 (talk) 20:54, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, I just took a closer look, and saw that Little Mountain 5 has already earned and been awarded the "Imperial Napoleonic Triple Crown" -- with 5 or more contributions in each area. I think he/she may be our leading candidate! Haven't seen 'em around so much recently on our talk page, but they used to be a regular. -Pete (talk) 15:20, 21 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm running late and don't have time to look, but look into Northwesterner1--greatly missed contributor, Zaui, Theo...something or other... Gotta run, but look through some of the earlier members listed on the project page, even the inactive ones, including Scientizzle ::cough:: Valfontis (talk) 15:05, 22 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Don't forget prolific editor Orygun. See also VegaDark, Steven Walling and Ipoellet. Valfontis (talk) 19:12, 22 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is fun, remembering all the excellent contributors we've had over the years. I don't know if Tedder has done much in the FA realm, but it's definitely worth a check, he's done so much good work. I believe Pfly is a project member, though I think he's up in the "former Oregon" realm of Seattle..and has done lots of good stuff. Another Believer would definitely qualify in the GA department, not sure about FA or DYK's without looking. Don't think Mtsmallwood got into the content review, but is at least worth a mention for all the great work on the history of steamboats. How about Athelwulf? Cacophony? Tesscass? Engineer Scotty? Clipdude? Anybody remember Duff? Emk4ever came through with some major help on the Wayne Morse article, but I think he drifted off. How about honorary mentions for Llywrch, Kotra, Jgilhousen? Not saying we have to research every person's contribution before we move forward, but as long as we're recognizing great content contributions, it's cool to think how many people there have been involved off and on over the years. -Pete (talk) 20:03, 22 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
JGil! Valfontis (talk) 20:09, 22 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Another promising guy is Peregrine Fisher -- can't believe we've left him off! I'm not sure if his FA credentials include anything Oregon-related, but I think he's responsible for both DYK and GA on Cave Junction, Oregon, Alcohol in Oregon, Controlled substances in Oregon and others. -Pete (talk) 17:57, 23 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm... Orygun, too, has got everything except FA work, as far as I'm aware. Pete, do you know of an FA he's helped to build? Jsayre64 (talk) 19:45, 23 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Same thing with EncMstr, too, I forgot to mention. Jsayre64 (talk) 19:48, 23 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure about either, though I would not be surprised if either of them qualifies. Side note, I found that Engineer Scotty (or perhaps BigSmooth) could be credited for FA for New Carissa, I'm not sure where they stand on the other qualifications though. I think it might be time to push for another FA or two though -- would be great to get more folks involved in that process! -Pete (talk) 04:45, 26 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The WikiProject Triple Crown is awarded to the WikiProject, and copies given to qualifying members. Someone from this project has been listing winners on WP:CROWN. Please follow the instructions on WP:CROWN/NOM. Do not add winners to the main list without first nominating them. You do not need to wait. You have enough people to start the nomination process. Do not list more than 1 entry for each DYK, GA and FC, together with the related evidence. If additional members qualify, you can nominate them later, and they too will get a copy of the award. Cheers. – SMasters (talk) 05:58, 9 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • I have started the verification process. However, the very first entry is a failed GA. In addition, the DYKs are mostly from user pages. Instruction note 3 states: "Unfortunately, links to user subpages will not be accepted in lieu of direct listing.". Can someone please fix these and inform me when it has been done. I prefer the credit on the user's talk page for DYKs. If that is missing, then you will need to provide an alternative (as per instructions). Thanks for your assistance. – SMasters (talk) 02:59, 14 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Investigation

[edit]

Peteforsyth

[edit]

Done --Jsayre64 (talk) 17:12, 21 March 2011 (UTC) Pete has contributed significantly to six featured articles and nine good articles, so there's definitely no problem for him there. An FA example is Columbia River. A GA example is Fern Hobbs or Wayne Morse. He's also started plenty of articles that were featured as DYK, for example Frank Morse (Oregon politician) and Luis Palau. One down, four to go![reply]

If I can state a preference, I'd most like to be associated with my work on Columbia River in the FA department. For a GA, I am rather partial to Fern Hobbs, mostly because I think it's a great story, and enjoyed unearthing several notable aspects of her career that seemed to be getting forgotten. (Wayne Morse is also one I am pretty happy with.) Frank Morse is a fine DYK example; I also enjoyed doing the Luis Palau article, which is a topic I previously knew little about. -Pete (talk) 15:40, 21 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Aboutmovies

[edit]

Done Multiple articles in all categories. For starters: Hillsboro, Oregon (FA), Charles McNary (GA), and Dilley, Oregon (DYK)

I don't think there's anything marginal about FA credentials -- my memory (and I think the record) show clearly that AM was the main driver in getting the article across the finish line. Certainly this was a collaborative effort; in my view, that strengthens his qualifications, rather than weakening them. In my opinion, I applying this article to both Valfontis' and Aboutmovies' "wiki résumés" would be entirely appropriate, as both made vital contributions to the effort to get the article to Featured status. -Pete (talk) 20:32, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I was just counting the number of articles. Perhaps I should be more appreciative of this past work! Can you show me an FA and a GA that Valfontis has worked on? It's tough to sort out one of all the articles she's created! Jsayre64 (talk) 20:52, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I am not aware of her putting major effort into an individual FA apart from the Capitol article. Probably best to ask her, though you might want to wait until after Friday, in case she's preoccupied with the RfA at the moment :) If you're not aware of them, the lists of Featured and Good articles at Portal:Oregon, and WP:ORE/DYK, might be useful resources. -Pete (talk) 22:01, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Finetooth

[edit]

 Done

I've switched over to Finetooth in order to save some time. Finetooth was definitely the one who lifted Rogue River (Oregon), for example, to FA status. In an amazingly low number of edits, he lifted Robert Deniston Hume to GA status. A DYK example for Finetooth is Dry River (Crooked River).

Esprqii

[edit]

Done Although Another Believer (talk · contribs) was the main contributor, Esprqii did some good stuff before the FA listing of List of Oregon state symbols, a DYK example is Leo Harris, and a GA example is Spruce Production Division (Tedder really wrote it but it was his and Valfontis' idea).

EncMstr

[edit]

Done, with Johnson Creek (Willamette River) as FA. Jsayre64 (talk) 21:52, 18 July 2011 (UTC) EncMstr (talk · contribs) did a great deal of work on the Barlow Road GA. A DYK example is Electro Scientific Industries.[reply]

Little Mountain 5

[edit]

Done I hope EncMstr is able to qualify, but anyways, Little Mountain 5 (as mentioned above) has won it for WikiProject Oregon! Congratulations, everyone!

If I may, my preferences are: Chetco River (FA), Little Applegate River (GA), and Humbug Mountain (DYK). Cheers, LittleMountain5 15:10, 22 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Valfontis

[edit]

Done Oh, are we in a hurry? I didn't know it was a race! :) I can claim the GA and FAs here, especially McNary and AM and I can vouch for each other on all these but SPD (Note I have COI on K.A.P.)--and I believe AM lists all his featured content on his userpage, and the DYKs on the bottom of the page here, especially SFUMC, Hoff, Portland Hotel, Lookingglass, Schwarz, Lambert and Pine Grove. I hope that helps. I'm going to nom Verboort, Oregon for DYK in the next couple days after I add a few bits.

Please use Oregon State Capitol, Charles L. McNary and Lookingglass, Oregon. 06:31, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

Cirt

[edit]

Done Though not around much lately at WP:ORE, has plenty of FA and GA content related to Oregon (big contributor to the portal going featured, plus lots Rajneesee related items for GA/DYK).

ZabMilenko

[edit]

Done Zab hasn't been around much either, but he has one FA, Upper and Lower Table Rock—which would also qualify in the GA and DYK categories—and a separate DYK, Algoma, Oregon.

Orygun

[edit]

Orygun has an amazing number of DYK credits, recently B&B Complex Fires. GA work checks out with Spruce Production Division.
