Improvements to Nuke

[edit]

I'm not sure how many editors watch this page, but I wanted to let you know that at the Wikimedia Hackathon a few participants did some work on the Nuke extension! In short:

  • Nuke will now correctly delete pages which were moved to another title (T43351)
  • The SQL Like search now no longer requires titles to be normalized to the database-stored string. Spaces in titles can now be entered as spaces instead of an underscore, and the search is no longer case sensitive (T234726)
  • Pages which are redirects are now italicized in the list of pages to be deleted (T278625)
  • Associated talk page links are now displayed in the list of pages to be deleted (T364143)
  • Some PHP tests were added, to improve the software's reliability in the long term (T315761)
  • Lastly, work is underway to migrate the form to use MediaWiki's new design system Codex (T153988)

It's probably also worth mentioning that my team (Moderator Tools) recently took official maintenance responsibility for Nuke, which was previously unowned. Although I don't anticipate doing any major feature work on the extension in the near future, we will be paying attention to breaking changes and long-term maintenance issues. This includes ensuring the tool still works with temporary accounts, and plugging a potential attack vector (T342785) Samwalton9 (WMF) (talk) 13:59, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Further improvements to Nuke

[edit]

Over the next few months our team will be working on more feature and functionality improvements to Nuke. We've set up a project page at Extension:Nuke/2024 Moderator Tools project, where we welcome feedback and input. Additionally there is a short survey for administrators who use Nuke.
