'Protest admin...'

[edit]

Why exactly are we protesting admin to change the names? By which I mean:

 1. Why is CHERUB: The Recruit any different/better to just The Recruit?
 2. If it is so much better, why aren't the names already like that/currently being changed?
 3. If it is against some policy to name the article like this, then why are we protesting about that?

I just don't get it. strdst_grl (call me Stardust) 14:22, 1 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That's a good question. I don't think they should be moved either. The names of the books are not CHERUB:The Recruit. They are merely The Recruit. I propose we remove that task from the list. Anybody agree? Rock drum (talk·contribs·guestbook) 16:05, 1 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Remove task. Okay. But I think they're the official names. http://cherubseries.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=bnc On that link go to the sub forums and they refer to the books as CHERUB:. I'll make a deal with you. If this poll[1] is more on The Recruit when the poll's locked, we'll have it your way. If it's on CHERUB: The Recruit or if Muchamore says it's called CHERUB: The Recruit, it'll be my way. I know I should just directly ask Muchamore, but I think he's a little sick of my questions. Unless one of you want to ask him. But if that happens you mustn't lie. Deal? Preceding unsigned comment added by RTY1998 (talk) • (contribs) (talk) 16:41, 1 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Why don't we just create redirects at CHERUB:The Recruit to The Recruit? That would solve all arguments. I hope. Rock drum (talk·contribs·guestbook) 16:46, 1 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Twice today you've given me that answer. You know I'll ask Mr Muchamore. I'd rather one of you did it. So if you'll ask for me I'd appreciate it. Preceding unsigned comment added by RTY1998 (talk) • (contribs) (talk) 16:49, 1 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry but I don't think that asking Rob is necessary and, in answer to your first statement, I like redirects. Rock drum (talk·contribs·guestbook) 16:57, 1 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I like redrects when they're to the right page. Your idea would be the right page. Preceding unsigned comment added by RTY1998 (talk) • (contribs) (talk) 17:09, 1 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Shall I do the redirects then? Rock drum (talk·contribs·guestbook) 17:12, 1 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
PS To make things easier we should use the IRC I'm signed in as Rock drum. I'll look for you as RTY1998 Rock drum (talk·contribs·guestbook)

Article tagging

[edit]

I have prepared some changes to the WP:YA template which will include the CHERUB task force. The new template can be seen at User talk:Strdst grl/ubx/sandbox - feel free to specify different attributes to test it out. Can you please take a look at it, and let me know if there's anything that needs changing before I request it to be officially added. Once it is up, we will be able to keep track of the task force's articles in the same manner WP:YA can, and specify an independent task force importance for each article. strdst_grl (call me Stardust) 12:06, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I see no problems. Let's make it official! Rock drum (talk·contribs·guestbook) 17:23, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The edit has been requested... I'll let you know when it gets made. strdst_grl (call me Stardust) 18:06, 3 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Great! Thank you. Rock drum (talk·contribs·guestbook) 18:13, 3 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
PS Just out of interest, how long is this likely to take. Many thanks. Rock drum (talk·contribs·guestbook) 19:20, 3 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It's happened. If you head to Template:WikiProject Children's literature you will see a list of the new categories which need setting up... I'm just about to go make a start. strdst_grl (call me Stardust) 21:49, 3 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, that's done. Now we just need to start tagging! strdst_grl (call me Stardust) 22:23, 3 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Right, I've tagged all of the articles on the CHERUB template. Just out of interest, how long will it it take the 1.0 bot to make the table? Many thanks. Rock drum (talk·contribs·guestbook) 16:56, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure. I think it generates automatically, but the tables only update every few days... hopefully it will arrive soon. strdst_grl (call me Stardust) 17:55, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Great stuff! Thanks for all your help. Rock drum (talk·contribs·guestbook) 18:13, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
This table is crtainly taking its time. What do you think has happened to it? Rock drum (talk·contribs·guestbook) 19:07, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've just posted a question at Wikipedia talk:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Index, hopefully we will find out soon. strdst_grl (call me Stardust) 09:14, 4 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Film

[edit]

With regard to the CHERUB: The Recruit film, I was wondering if and when a page should be made. Thank you. Rock drum (talk·contribs·guestbook) 10:57, 6 February 2010 (UTC) PS I've started work on it here. Rock drum (talk·contribs·guestbook) —Preceding undated comment added 13:51, 6 February 2010 (UTC).[reply]

I've not heard anything about a film... I'd say make it if you can make it well, but it might need to wait until there are more sources available. strdst_grl (call me Stardust) 16:42, 6 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah. I wasn't meaning to publish it straight away, possibly not even for a few months, but there is some information at CHERUB#Spin-offs and in some old CHERUB newsletters on the website. Rock drum (talk·contribs·guestbook) 14:52, 7 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wikiquote

[edit]

Do you think that CHERUB/Henderson's Boys should have a Wikiquote page? Rock drum (talk·contribs·guestbook) 18:14, 19 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah! I love Wikiquote. Preceding unsigned comment added by RTY1998 (talk) • (contribs) (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 18:20, 19 March 2010 (UTC).[reply]
It is quite good, but I think that we need a third opinion. Rock drum (talk·contribs·guestbook) 09:26, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
PS Do you want your signature to look like this? Preceding unsigned comment added by RTY1998 (talkcontribs) Regards, Rock drum (talk·contribs·guestbook) 09:26, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah. Thanks. Preceding unsigned comment added by RTY1998 (talk) • (contribs) (talk) 11:29, 21 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The code looks like this
Preceding unsigned comment added by RTY1998 (talk • contribs)

New series

[edit]

Are we going to cover Robert Muchamore's new series? I probably will anyway, but I want to know if we will make a big thing of it. Cheers, Rock drum (talk·contribs·guestbook) 12:27, 2 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What's it called? Preceding unsigned comment added by RTY1998 (talkcontribs) —Preceding undated comment added 19:23, 2 April 2010 (UTC).[reply]
It's going to be revealed in the back of Shadow Wave. If you want to know more, have a look at some old issues of CHERUB news. Rock drum (talk·contribs·guestbook) 07:49, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It's going to be published in September 2011. Because of this, I don't think that a page should be created until closer to that time than September this year (which is when it's going to be announced). We could start work on it in Sandbox 3 although I'm loathe to have something on hold for over a year. I hope this helps, Rock drum (talk·contribs·guestbook) 15:32, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It's been announced: see here. I think we should wait a while before creating an article. A redirect to CHERUB#Sequel would be ok, though. Thanks, Rock drum Ba-dumCrash (Review me) 10:49, 13 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome template

[edit]

I think that this project needs a welcome template. I have drawn up a draft at Template:CHERUBwelcome. It will need to be added like so: . Thanks, Rock drum (talk·contribs·guestbook) 15:51, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Task list

[edit]

"Change page names to eg. 'CHERUB: The Recruit' to 'The Recruit'"

I think that this job should not be done. (Smithyfromdunny (talk) 16:33, 13 May 2010 (UTC))[reply]

Nor do I - in fact, I complained about this point before (see above) and it was removed. Why is it back on the list? strdst_grl (call me Stardust) 17:17, 13 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I think I put them back on solely because these are actually the names of the books: see details. Rock drum (talk·contribs·guestbook) 17:55, 13 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've sent Rob and e-mail and received the following answer: "I dunno really, I guess CHERUB is just the series title but both versions seem to get used." I'm inclined to say this means that RTY and I are wrong. File:Blush.png Rock drum (talk·contribs·guestbook) 08:39, 6 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Secret Army

[edit]

Just so you know, I created a page for Secret Army at Secret Army (novel), considering it has now been out for a while and got some coverage. strdst_grl (call me Stardust) 08:44, 19 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Henderson's Boys page titles

[edit]

They're doesn't seem to be a regular title style for the Henderson's Boys books. Some are <NAME> (novel) and some are Henderson's Boys: <NAME>. I think that they should be <NAME> (novel) or just <NAME> if possible. Shall we vote? :) Regards, Rock drum Ba-dumCrash (Driving well?) 18:01, 5 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think just name, but clearly state near the top of the page that it is part of the Henderson's Boys series. Smithyfromdunny (talk) 19:58, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Of course. That's a given. :) I would have to agree with you on the page name, though. What does anyone else think about this? Regards, Rock drum Ba-dumCrash (Driving well?) 18:08, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I think just <NAME> as well. Amazon puts the series name in brackets just for helpfulness.(link) DJDunsie (talk) 19:00, 6 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sequel section inside novel articles

[edit]

I've noticed in some of the novel articles, especially those early on in the series, have a section like the one below:

Sequel

[edit]

The Killing is followed by Divine Madness, which was released in April 2006. It is set around a religious cult called "'The Survivors" and their "Ark" in Australia. The novel introduces new characters such as Greg Rathbone.

These are pretty irrelevant, should they be removed?
