Amerivision Song Contest

The Amerivision Song Contest 1980 was the twenty-fifth edition of the annual Amerivision Song Contest, organised by the American Broadcasting Union (ABU) and host broadcaster National Broadcasting Company (NBC). The edition was hosted in the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, in San Francisco, United States, as the country that won the contest in 1979, Netherlands Antilles, refused to host the contest, alledging a lack of budget, runner up Canada also refused to host the contest as it hosted two contests in the last five years, so the United States offered to host instead.

This edition is often remembered for being the first attempt of Bryan Adams to represent canada in the contest, with the song "Remember", however, it ended second place in the national final, losing it to "Miami" by Diane Tell. It also saw the debut of Bermuda and Suriname, the return of Barbados and Brazil and the withdrawal of Bahamas, Ecuador and Panama.
