Referencing errors on Simon Cowell

The article on Martin lLuther is not a fair one since only those who think he was anti semetic have their say in it..

I WOULD WANT TO ADD Another VIEW .. AFTER ALL EVEN JEWISH ISRAEL ITSELF PUT MORE THAN JUST what LUTHER WROTE IN TO PRACTICE ON ITS WEST BANKS.. Are they rabid anti --Muslim's?

I Find no place where I can edit on the Martin Luther page and I'm a registered user..i will leave the other view alone. I just want to add a positive view..   • First, please stop SHOUTING. Typing in all caps is not going to get anyone to listen to you more. Second, Martin Luther is semi-protected so only autoconfirmed users can edit it. If you want you can submit an edit request by clicking on the "View Source" button and then the "Submit edit request" button. Please note that requests must be explicit (formatted in a please change X to Y format) and they must have reliable sources or they will be rejected. --Stabila711 (talk) 05:27, 29 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Junker's epitome - articles should be balanced in that they should represent all views of the subject that are represented in reliable published sources. They do not necessarily have to be "fair", whatever that means. If it happens that all the reliable published sources have one view of a subject, and only fringe sites have another, then the other view should at most get a mention. I'm not saying that this is the case with the article Martin Luther - I haven't even looked at it. It is hard to figure out exactly what the original poster is saying. However, first, I have requested that the page be unprotected, because it was protected five years ago. Second, if this is a dispute over neutral point of view, that is a type of content dispute. Read the dispute resolution policy, which will tell you to discuss on the article talk page. Article needs language help

Education for disabled people in China is a short article written in substandard English that needs to be fixed. However most of the sources are in Chinese so an editor who can read them is best able to fix the article. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 06:30, 29 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

We're still discussing what it is exactly that we need, but I'd say we need is a button that allows a user to enter their own name, which then gets added in the text next to the button. — Sebastian 17:37, 29 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ammar Alwaeli, you need to drop all the cites to wikia pages, all but one of the cites to your own web site, all refs to what are merely directory entries or the like (such as yelleb and yellopages.com), all links to forum threads, and see what is left. You need cites to independent reliable sources such as newspapers, magazines, or websites with a reputation for editorial oversight and attention to accuracy, that discuss the subject in some detail, say 3-4 paragraphs or more in a single source. That is how notability is established. Please read WP:CORP, Your First Article, and Wikipedia's Golden Rule.
Also, as this seems to be your business, you have a conflict of interest, so read that guideline also, and be careful in any editing.
There is no need to recreate this in the main article space, once it is approved, in can be moved there. When you think it is ready (it has quite a ways to go yet) place {{subst:submit}} at the top of the draft and it will be added to the list of drafts waiting for review. Hi, if any HD editors out there are familiar with BLPs and specifically with WP:BLPCRIME, I could use some experienced eyes at Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, which has a large section about crimes he's accused of. I posted a request at the BLP noticeboard a couple of days ago, but nobody's biting. I'm concerned that the content may run afoul of our BLP guidelines. Thanks and sorry for the hassle. If it helps sweeten the deal, you might be amused to know that he's a religious leader in India who has been the star of two self-aggrandizing propaganda films, and in one of them he kicks an elephant's ass. I've removed the content until someone better equipped to deal with it can deal with it. There were accusations of forced castration, rape, and other unsavory business. We were devoting an inordinate amount of article space to accusations, and it seemed like WP:RECENTISM, which is why I was hoping to get help from BLP genii. You appear to meet the criteria as auto-confirmed, however know that it is a pseudo-group and not a specific permission you would see listed or associated with your username. If you're encountering problems editing while logged in, please share those problems. Otherwise you should be all set. You can read a bit more about it over at WP:CONFIRM. How to save Wikipedia pages as complete html

I periodically save some Wikipedia pages to my hard drive, to have a record of how before and after edits appeared, which helps me a lot to understand template coding, as well as other forms of structure in Wikipedia.

For the last few months, however, when I click to save as "web page complete," the result does not include most of the photo images that are in the article too. Instead, where the photos are located in the article, there is complex code, but no actual photo.

This has been going on only for two or three months now. Since I don't have the same problem when I save pages from other websites, I am assuming it is the result of some kind of Wikipedia code revision. I use the latest version of Firefox for my browser and have Windows 10 OS or Windows 7, on the computers I am using to access Wikipedia. I get the same "save as" result with both of those OSs.

Wondering if this will be a permanent situation in Wikipedia, or if some pending revision of your software will enable me to save Wiki pages as I did before -- as a web page complete?

    • You might want to try clicking "Printable Version" on the left side navigation and then saving that copy. Altenately simply add &printable=yes to the end of the URL. Saving a complete page this way works. Also depending on what you're doing, you might be interested in an XML export Help:Export. Tiggerjay (talk) 01:01, 31 October 2015 (UTC).[reply]
Thank you for that info. I tried the printable version and also tried adding that additional code to the URL, but in both cases, still get the same result (no photos). Then, I tried to save as a PDF doc and that one does include the photos. However, I still would like to be able to save as a complete html web page, as I had been able to do for many years. But now, that no longer works. I think I will try the Village Pump to see if anyone there knows why this has changed. WikEd symbol

There is a very small jpg symbol at the top of my preferences page. If I put my mouse pointer on it, it says "disable" or "enable," depending upon which mode it is in at the time.

I have not been able to find any information as to what that feature is for and/or what it does. Can someone explain to me what it does, after I click "enable?" EditorASC (talk) 19:40, 29 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@EditorASC: Your preferences page is Special:Preferences. Is that really where you see it? It's one of the few places I don't see it. If "wikEd" is enabled at Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-gadgets then many pages have the wikEd icon or in the upper right corner. If you edit a page then you should see a big difference between the enabled and disabled state. PrimeHunter (talk) 20:57, 29 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
You are correct; it shows up on 5 of my pages, but NOT on the Preferences page. I still cannot figure out what function it provides. At least, I don't notice any difference in my edits, when it is on or off.EditorASC (talk) 00:03, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Emmanuel Lewis Article

Sara Alpern

Need some help regarding Sara Alpern. I didn't think this would be a big deal at all, but I couldn't find anything that would make her notable so I went to the BLP/Noticeboard for opinions. I simply asked if she was notable. As you'll see, the editor who replied was very nice but suggested the discussion should be on the article's talk page instead, and he pinged the article's creator, who responded by saying "secondary sources are not required" and then immediately inserted an inappropriate direct link to a YouTube video into the article with this edit. I reverted it and posted a note on the article's talk page about the notability concern, but the article only has about 50 total edits and most of them are from the article's creator. I saw that the editor was indefinitely blocked in 2011 for BLP violations, but was unblocked a couple years ago. Anyway, I don't want to see any article improperly get deleted but I simply can't find anything that makes this person notable. And of course the article's creator cannot be unbiased with regard to her notability. I read all the relevant notability guidelines and even searched on my own to find sources that would prove she's notable. But not luck. So it would be great if anyone with an interst in bios can look at the article. Sennater (talk) 21:42, 29 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately with Wikipedia's criteria, it is MUCH easier for a no talent F-list actor to qualify for an article than an interesting B-list academic. The works that Alpern has edited appear to be frequently referenced and i did find a review of one of her works [2] so with a little more digging a claim to WP:AUTHOR or WP:PROF might be made. While there are problems with that page, it is not the name. The name indicates that it is not an article but a draft in progress. If it were in main article space it would immediately be deleted as inappropriate. Rollbacker right userbox

This userbox has a Verify in it, which, when clicked, takes you to a user rights page. Let's assume a user puts the userbox on his userpage and does in fact have the rollbacker right. Then the right is removed, but the user doesn't remove the userbox (AFG forgets to do so). In this situation, I click on Verify and it takes me to a different user who has the rollbacker right. Because the "Verify" button is a link to [[Special:ListUsers&username=the user name concerned+wikipedia&group=rollbacker&limit=1]], and that produces a list, one item long, starting with the user concerned or the next user in alphabetical order. --David Biddulph (talk) 23:08, 29 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

{{User wikipedia/rollback}} has only worked like that since January 2014 [3] where it started using {{User rights}}. {{User wikipedia/Administrator}} does not work like that. It always displays the user rights of the given user and the verification must be done by the reader seeing whether the right is listed. I'm not sure which system is best but it seems a minor issue. For me, which system is best is easy: the admin system. Why would I want to see anyone other than the user I'm verifying? Some readers don't know that they have to look for the user right after the username. They click "verify", see the name of the user, and may assume that was the verification. Seeing another name gives a strong hint that something is wrong. MediaWiki doesn't make it possible to say something like "X is not a rollbacker", or to display no name at all. The wonders of MediaWiki. If I recall correctly, if a non-admin has an admin user box, and you click on Verify, it shows you that user's name but the administrator right isn't there. Why wouldn't it be better for the rollback right to work the same? For me, and I'm not even the average user, clicking on Verify and going to another user didn't make me think something was wrong. Adding Articles to your Collections

Hello,

I am wondering is there is any simple way to add an article to one of your collections. Currently, the only way I seem to be able to do it, is to navigate to Special Pages in the sidebar, than to Gather, then click on the collection, scroll to the bottom of the page and switch to mobile view, then scroll back to the top of the page, and search for the article, and then add it without actually being able to look at the article, but only see the title.

That it be this complicated seems absurd, but I cannot for the life of me find any other way to do it. Is there something obvious that I am overlooking?

If, rather unbelievably, this is the only way to do it, is there some official avenue through which I could request a feature (perhaps something similar to the ‘add to watch list’ button) to address this?

Hello, RyanMartins. I had never heard of collections or 'gather', but following your instructions I found that they exist. I then went to WP:Collections (useful tip - try putting WP: in front of a word to find out about something "behind the scenes" in Wikipedia) which led me to mw:Gather, where you'll see that it's a new feature begin developed, but you can ask about it. --ColinFine (talk) 23:57, 29 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
(ec) According to Mediawikiwiki:Extension:Gather/FAQ, this is a feature in development, and currently only enabled on EN mobile. Presumably if this goes well, it will be rolled out to other projects.
